I think Revco was where Eckard's is next to Academy at Flores & Military.Somebody rang a bell earlier with Skillern's maybe in Walgreen's old spot in Shoppers City Mall.

Did they have collectible cards and stuff too? Kinda in the corner facing west? Think they are long gone.

In the early 80's Revco was at shoppers city I think it a boot store now, and Eckerds was the strip where Kroger (Now academy) was. They also had a winn's store in that strip.

Think the Eckard's next to Academy was formerly or later a Revco. Not sure on that one . Got to argue with you on the Winn's though. Unless it was all the way at the west end behind what I think is still a Salvation Army Store ( Used to be Video World , one of our first video stores over here ) . That might have been a Winn's. I remember they had stuff like a Winn's would have. BTW, The video place was shut down for renting pirated movies!

I think around 1981-82 the eckerds opened up next to supercuts i thnk, the winn's i think opened around 83 or 84. But yes Winn's was at the far end and it was a preety good size store. I remember Revco only being at Shoppers City from about 1980 till i think the early 90's.

Newt Godfrey was on North Flores downtown. My grandmother always bought her cars there. She used to go there every month to make her payment and visit with Newt himself. I remember going with her a few times. There was a Travis Savings near there too.

You're right about the Winn's. I think you're right about the Revco too (that rings a bell). Maybe it wasn't Skillern's or maybe it was both at one time or another.

Default Tiner's Ice Cream Trucks

Remember trash collection in SA EVERYDAY! Big old ugly yellow cheese wagon trash trucks. This was mid 50s.
Oh and the Borden Milk routes that left fresh milk sitting on the door step and it NEVER went sour.
In 1971, I drove a Tiner's truck the summer after my junior year at Highlands High School. It was a kind of a pickup with a freezer in back, no doors. Blue and white and my truck played "3 Blind Mice" over and over. Every morning we'd pick up our trucks at Tiners (somewhere around W. Commerce), sign out for the boxes of ice cream and head for our neighborhoods. My route was in Highland Hills. It seems like I cleared around $20 -$30 on a good day.

Tiner's trucks were blue and white, there was also a green and white and red and white that came through our neighborhood in Highland Hills. The red one played little red wing over and over and I dont remember what the green one played but it seems it was farmer in the dell. Those were the days. Now some perv drives a van with rap crap up and down my street in Waco. Sucks.
