Because when I was a little runt (11 years old), around 86 or 88, there was a Mr. Gatti's where the ice cream place is now, my mother would ask us...do we want pizza or hot dog, after we've seen a movie. I always voted for pizza.

Mr Gatti's became a Papa Johns last time I looked. I think. Remember Alamo Burgers? They were in the strip to the west.

Buildings still there but Orange Julius has been gone a long time.
Did you know Dan Blocker who played Hoss Cartwright on Bonanza went to Carroll Bell?
Really, I did not know that!!

I do remember the Model Market. It later became Food City. I remember the Griff's too. We used to eat at the Taco Hut behind Griff's (on Shasta).I vaguely remember the Orange Julius. I do remember there was little drive thru a photo processing place in the parking lot too. This might have been later. It was either called "Film 'n Photos" or "Fox Photos". I also remember the Winn's that was next to the post office.

The Model Market was one of two I know of. One was on New Braunfels just north of Austin Hwy. Orange Julius was short lived there. Tasted nasty to me. Too much pulp. They did have one in McCreless Mall many years later , close to Montgomery Wards.

Orange Julius ruled. Anyone remember that hot dog place at Windsor Park Mall, I think it was called Orange Bowl? They had a few video games, ice cream, etc. Someone mentioned Pizza Inn and it got me thinking about the old Pizza Inn commercial with the Von Erich brothers from wrestling.

"For pizza out it's Pizza Inn!" then they'd say "yeah yeah yeah!" It's sad what happened to all of them, I grew up watching them on TV, I think it was called World Class Wrestling. Had local guys like Tito Santana, etc.

What was the deal with the Von Erich's anyway. Kerry lost a leg in some accident and hid it with a prosthesis and then suicide ?

I remember the 39 cent weiner works had about at least 5 to 10 locations, you could not beat the price.
