So, I guess the solution is not spend a penny and let Putin win...
I'm guessing you'd be happy with that...
$100 billion sounds like a lot but it isn't ...like you said...only 15% of annual
defense budget...
Didn't those Iraq/Afghanistan wars cost trillions?
$100 billion is a drop in the bucket.
If you think $100 BILLION is a "drop in the bucket"...you really don't have any realistic knowledge about this.
We didn't spend that much in one year of fighting in the Middle East...on two fronts.
That's double Russia's annual Defense Budget.
The last time Russia reintegrated part of the Ukraine, the last time Biden was in office...we didn't do squat for them. We sent them blankets and MRE rations.
How did our not helping them effect the world?: Almost not at all.
Very few people died...very little money spent...very little area damaged.
We should have done no more this time.
If anyone thinks the current situation is better than last time.. simply because it might keep more area from being reintegrated...is, in my view, very twisted.

"You" messed up you gave us time to highly train and arm a truly dedicated force that will not back down with the whole western world behind them.
I don't know who you are referring to with the "You & your pals" stuff. I'm a U.S. Army Veteran
Cold War volunteer under Carter & Reagan

This may not be as you think
There are various assessments. Some provide info you won't get from those looking to put forth biased propaganda:
Come on kid when even civilians can see through the BS you are posting you truly messed up. you are disgracing the real hero's out there that fight to defend our values and freedoms that come at very high cost for all.
This war is ideological, and there's no amount of money that can change ideology.
What ideology?
Greed and arrogance is all I see here.
We have an authoritarian capitalist government run by greedy thieves attacking and trying to destroy a republican capitalist government which refuses to capitulate. That's it ... that's all.
No ideology here. Just greed.
Sadly for Russia it has been a corrupt mess for so long the military is under-performing. They are still very capable of cruelty but they are not winning the hearts and minds of the Ukrainian people and small gains on the battlefield cost them dearly.
There is no 'ideology' here. Two capitalist former Soviet countries slugging it out.

Yes...there was no need for that.
It could have been the same as the last time a reintegration effort was made. Very little trouble then...because Obama was a way better leader than Biden.
There was also a denazification mission by Russia this time...they wanted to purge that area of Neo-Nazis, specifically the followers of Ukrainian nationalist leader Stepan Bandera.
But the U.S. got involved because Zelenskyy had the goods on Biden after running a corrupt scam with him that fed him millions. Being compromised like that...Biden did as was demanded. Plus...he doesn't want that gravy train to end.
So...that's how we've ended up where we are. Because the corrupt leaders involved have no values, and only care about the freedom to rip-off the easily scammed.
And, it's gonna get worse before it gets better.
