I think it is folly. Korea is one of the most dangerous places on the globe. There was an armistice in Ukraine after 2014. There was a lull in fighting in Ngorno Karabakh for nearly 30 years before war started again and threatens to continue to break back out.
There must be a settlement, not merely an agreement to not make any decisions. We must give the Ukrainians the equipment to break the Russian army. Ultimately, they probably need to give up Crimea, but the current Russian positions in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia just create the grounds for future further conflict.

LONDON — Vladimir Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine has had repercussions for every part of Europe. A spate of burglaries in the sleepier corners of rural England may seem an unlikely addition to the list.
But British police say organized criminal gangs are sending machinery and equipment stolen from farms across the U.K. to Eastern Europe in rapidly-increasing quantities, and blame the crippling Western sanctions imposed on Russia for soaring demand.
“We know from where we’ve recovered equipment, where we are seeing equipment we have recovered but also that’s being tracked before we can intercept it, it’s heading to Eastern Europe, without a doubt,” Superintendent Andrew Huddleston, who leads the U.K.’s National Rural Crime Unit, told POLITICO.
Huddlestone has no conclusive evidence the equipment is ultimately destined for heavily sanctioned Russia, but says he and senior colleagues are in little doubt.
“If you asked me my professional opinion, for a country that’s under sanctions, then absolutely I would professionally expect the black market to be responding to that," he said. "That’s what criminals do.”

On May 29, Denmark — a country with a population 1/56th of the US — promised an additional $2.59bn in military support this year and next; Norway has pledged around $7bn to 2028, its “largest ever” military and foreign aid program; Germany gifted almost $3bn in military aid in May, almost doubling its commitment; and the UK, probably Europe’s most hawkish power along with Poland, has said it will match last year’s military aid of $2.85bn in 2023 while sending new capabilities like the Storm Shadow cruise missile.
The Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, which have led the Western aid effort in GDP terms, are also sending more equipment. Finland is shipping anti-aircraft weapons and ammunition worth $117m, bringing that country’s total aid to $1.2bn. France has promised more armored vehicles — though it is a laggard in military aid — and President Macron has changed his language to demand victory for Ukraine. That particular writer has never thought Ukraine could win. Before the war he had all sorts of suggestions as to how it could be avoided by changing US actions. He imagines he has some input into US policy and tosses scripts to Biden as if Biden would care.
"Endgame"?.... The writer thinks he should be clued in and told what the endgame is? He's dreaming.
