Prigozhin also earlier stated the Russian MOD mined the road they were using to leave from Bakhmut.

Well, yes but, as always , BUT.

MOD issued a dumb order to mine any roads that could have been used by the opposing forces and Wagners "got under dispense" in the south. As usual, infamous mess in Russian MOD and lack of communication.
Yes, they arrested a colonel, who was in charge of mining roads. Actually, not a colonel. Sub colonel or whatever the according American rank is.

Peculiarly, I didn't see a single comment about that on Wagner official channel.

Prigozhin is a dangerous clown. He left two of his best men behind in Bakhmut, a young lad named Bieber and an old man named Dolik. He says not to worry, they will defeat the Ukrainians in case the Russian MOD fails.

Ukraine explicitly asked everyone to go quiet a day or two ago. So I think it will be some time before we hear what is going on now, except via Russian sources.

ISW Update 6/4/23

Jun 4, 2023 - Press ISW

Elements of the all-Russian pro-Ukrainian Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and Freedom of Russia Legion (LSR) conducted another limited raid into Belgorod Oblast on June 4 and are reportedly continuing to operate in a Russian border settlement. Geolocated footage published on June 4 shows LSR and RDK personnel advancing towards Novaya Tavolzhanka (3.5km from the Ukrainian border). Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that there was fighting within Novaya Tavolzhanka, although the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed that units of the Western Military District and the Russian Border Guard Service struck a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group near the settlement, forcing them to withdraw. Russian milbloggers claimed that a sabotage and reconnaissance group of 20 personnel entered Novaya Tavolzhanka without armored vehicles. Wall Street Journal Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Yarsoslav Trofimov reported that the pro-Ukrainian Russian fighters remain in Novaya Tavolzhanka as of 1700 (Moscow Standard Time

This writer argues the west should try to start talks to work towards an armistice like Korea.

I think it is folly. Korea is one of the most dangerous places on the globe. There was an armistice in Ukraine after 2014. There was a lull in fighting in Ngorno Karabakh for nearly 30 years before war started again and threatens to continue to break back out.

There must be a settlement, not merely an agreement to not make any decisions. We must give the Ukrainians the equipment to break the Russian army. Ultimately, they probably need to give up Crimea, but the current Russian positions in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia just create the grounds for future further conflict.

Police believe Ukraine war has triggered a crime wave … in rural England
British cops have linked a recent surge in farm machinery thefts to the sanctions imposed on Russia over the war.

https://www.politico.eu/article/farm...war-sanctions/

Quote:
LONDON — Vladimir Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine has had repercussions for every part of Europe. A spate of burglaries in the sleepier corners of rural England may seem an unlikely addition to the list.

But British police say organized criminal gangs are sending machinery and equipment stolen from farms across the U.K. to Eastern Europe in rapidly-increasing quantities, and blame the crippling Western sanctions imposed on Russia for soaring demand.

“We know from where we’ve recovered equipment, where we are seeing equipment we have recovered but also that’s being tracked before we can intercept it, it’s heading to Eastern Europe, without a doubt,” Superintendent Andrew Huddleston, who leads the U.K.’s National Rural Crime Unit, told POLITICO.

Huddlestone has no conclusive evidence the equipment is ultimately destined for heavily sanctioned Russia, but says he and senior colleagues are in little doubt.

“If you asked me my professional opinion, for a country that’s under sanctions, then absolutely I would professionally expect the black market to be responding to that," he said. "That’s what criminals do.”
GPS units used on farms seem to be a favorite thing to steal and ship east.

Europe Gets Serious About Russian Defeat. At Last.
There has been a steep rise in European support for Ukraine’s military, as the continent looks to its future security and to a reconstruction boom.

https://cepa.org/article/europe-gets...efeat-at-last/

Quote:
… Europe got off to a slow start last year, but the recent numbers are eye-popping. On May 29, Denmark — a country with a population 1/56th of the US — promised an additional $2.59bn in military support this year and next; Norway has pledged around $7bn to 2028, its “largest ever” military and foreign aid program; Germany gifted almost $3bn in military aid in May, almost doubling its commitment; and the UK, probably Europe’s most hawkish power along with Poland, has said it will match last year’s military aid of $2.85bn in 2023 while sending new capabilities like the Storm Shadow cruise missile.

The Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, which have led the Western aid effort in GDP terms, are also sending more equipment. Finland is shipping anti-aircraft weapons and ammunition worth $117m, bringing that country’s total aid to $1.2bn. More is in the pipeline: Ukrainian pilots are already training on European-owned F-16 combat aircraft.

France has promised more armored vehicles — though it is a laggard in military aid — and President Macron has changed his language to demand victory for Ukraine. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has told her country’s voters that she will continue to send military assistance even if it they don’t like it (Italians remain skeptical about the aid.)

The new cash commitments illustrate how Russian hopes of a war-weary Europe withdrawing support for Ukraine’s democratic government have been disappointed. Instead, the opposite is happening…

2 recent mass media hacking events.

The recent “shhh” video from Ukraine saying “be quiet about the offensive” was supposedly broadcast to televisions in Crimea, and now a deep fake of Putin was broadcast announcing mobilization, martial law, evacuations…

That particular writer has never thought Ukraine could win. Before the war he had all sorts of suggestions as to how it could be avoided by changing US actions. He imagines he has some input into US policy and tosses scripts to Biden as if Biden would care.
"Endgame"?.... The writer thinks he should be clued in and told what the endgame is? He's dreaming.

Meanwhile, China is reassessing. Chinese assessment posted in Feb. 25, 2022, predicting Russia’s victory against Ukraine within 48 hours and tying lessons learned to a planed blitzkrieg against Taiwan , predicting PRC victory in 72 hrs.
