Guess, flyover country with 90% of more speaking English only is at a big disadvantage.
Americans overwhelmingly speak English. If Californians want a large minority of people living in their state who don't speak English, it is OK with me.

Different day/year, same old racist party.
For Democrats of today it's more like: Who is going to scrub my toilet and nanny my kid?

Second generation immigrants, as they ALWAYS have, learn English. If they also happen to speak English at home, then who really cares. This has been happening for as long a the US has existed. You're lacking historical perspective, and are blinded by your partisan beliefs.

This has happened with European immigrants, with Asian immigrants, with African immigrants, with Central/South American immigrants...and immigrants from anywhere else in the world. It likely happened with your ancestors, assuming your ancestors came to America from elsewhere.
People need to learn English if they want to live in this country. Period. I would bet my left toe that a good number of the nearly half of people living in California have been here for quite a while; they didn't just jump the border yesterday for the most part. They've had time to learn English and assimilate.

As for my ancestors: they were brought here on slave ships.

Meh, my families second language is math. I also speak basic Spanish and so far math has paid off far better. So um, thanks for that cheap partisan shot of snobbery at those of us that live in fly-over country.

Yeah, I think it's a true Capitalistic love story that the US corporations have managed to on-shore millions of workers at unfair wage levels which has helped stagnate blue collar wages in the US (along with off-shoring).

It's worked so well that even those that complain about the illegal on-shoring, wage stagnation and corporate greed are promptly labeled racist.

Yeah, not being able to speak English is going to heavily correlate to low incomes and crappy jobs.

About 25% of households in Hawaii speak a language other than English at home

I'm guessing that won't outrage people as much.
I can also guess why
