Maybe you should try keeping up and not wandering off trying to reframe the topic. National id??? Nope, not part of the title or op. The title and op seems to say why ppl don't have photo ID's that these new ALEC law require.

Here is the entirety of the OP. (She had a lot of stuff in quotes, so I just copied the whole thing):

Quote:
For what valid reason would a US citizen not have an ID?

In another thread a poster wrote the following:
Quote:
Over 2 dozen states have added new ID laws under the guise of eliminating voter fraud. The real result of these laws is the disenfranchisement of up to 5 million African American voters who do not have the required ID.

To do many necessary functions, such as driving and getting medical care, you have to have an ID in this country. I really want to know for what VALID reason a US citizen wouldn't have an ID.

I know someone is going to cite cost so I'll go ahead and supply that because I don't see where any of them are prohibitive.

My apologies, that was workingclasshero that made that comment. You're absolved.

You are neglecting to accept the fact it says QUALIFIED voters. Not everyone. States determine what is required to be qualified to vote.
And the federal government outlines that states cannot disqualify a voter based on age, creed, sex, or initiate any poll-taxes, and the court of Georgia found Georgia's original VoterID law to be unconstitutional because it constituted a poll-tax.

And, it's been shown that VoterID laws target specific protected groups--racial minorities, the elderly, and the impoverished.

do you see voting mentioned in the title...yes or no

question with in the thread:
Quote:

do you see voting mentioned within this question....yes on no

the ONLY MENTION of voting is to say that a few NEW id laws have come in reciently about voting...just as some have also come in reciently dealing with imigration

it is YOU who have cherry picked this op

this op is about identification and the need or not of having an ID

What's wrong with having a national ID? Isn't that what a US passport is? Should we be afraid to have one?

Well that list is wrong. I just looked up FL. Who knows what other state is incorrect.
Applying for a New Florida DMV Identification Card at DMV.org: The DMV Made Simple

The address change fee is 25 by mail or 30 in person. I think I stated 35. That IS not the fee for receiving an ID. FL also has crazy document standards. Literally your entire life they want to scan. Serious FRAUD magnet.

They have already had security/fraud issues. They like other states make much money off of selling your information.

What's with you RWs constantly accusing "liberals" of being afraid of things. We were afraid of Sarah Palin's good looks (!), we're afraid of Paul Jagoff Ryan, afraid, afraid, afraid. Keep saying it often enough, all the cons will believe it.
