Ron Paul: This birth control debate is just “silly” « Hot Air

Hate to interject, but Ron is not a real republican! He realizes that the only way that he might remotely have a chance at the presidency is run as a democrat or a republican. Now since the democrats have their man he just ran as a republican. Why do you think they have basically been ignoring him? Watch this, after mittens wins the nomination he will screw them all by pulling his delegates and his endorsments away from them and run as an independent. Truthfully I might vote for him if he does that

No. No one is forced to take birth control if they don't want to.
Can't say the same for the bills being passed forcing women to have sonograms, etc. all over the country.
And, here I thought that Rs and the right were actually concerned about government coming between patients and doctors. Sure they are.

BTW: you asked earlier who was trying to limit womens' right to choose, well, here you go on International Women's Day, no less:

"Thursday, March 8 is International Women's Day, and Republicans in Congress are celebrating by debating a new bill that would restrict abortion rights.
...
Quigley said he believes his GOP colleagues will pursue women's health issues all year and introduce "five more bills like this" before elections in November."

On International Women's Day, Congress Debates Measure To Limit Reproductive Rights

What happened to "jobs, jobs, jobs?"

It's just stabs at the right vs left because this is an election year.
The Dems lost several states and the House last election.
The Repubs want to gain more seats.
Both want the Presidency.

So make EVERY issue of national importance and pull no stops to cause emotional outrage from both sides.
I agree with you on this one HappyTexan.

But why should people who don't want to pay for it have to?

BTW - I have no problem with the government directly funding birth control.

I am against that type of legislation, so we do agree on something.

This bill addresses people taking minors across state lines to have abortions in violation of parental consent or notification laws. This isn't even about women - it's about girls who are not even old enough to legally buy cigarettes. They're not allowed to consent to most medical procedures - why should abortion be different? Would you support legislation allowing minors to consent to all medical procedures?

This should be a thread itself...how can anyone be upset about an Rx MANDATE and not a sonogram mandate that Dr's may not even find necessary?

Age of concent laws have always been a grey area. They are articifcial and can't cover everything. We know it but it's the best we can do. Then we make exceptions where warranted.

If the Repub Party hadn't been hijacked by the Religious Activists, we'd have a huge majority of the population (after all, only 21% of Americans are Liberal). Of course, the whole point of the "two" Parties is to pretend that we actually have a "choice," while our leaders pass whatever laws they want to reflect THEIR views. Of course, they don't obey their own laws, but rules are for us lowly peons who work endless hours so politicians can spend trillions on wars and graft and maintaining the power structure.

The Repubs picking Romney is just another example of giving us another pathetic joke of a candidate to hold our nose and vote for. This time, our "alternative" to Obama is Romney "the White Obama," the inventor of Obamacare and a Democrat until he was 50 years old, and the ex-Governor of the most liberal state in the nation.

By the time the next election rolls around, the Repubs and the Dems will offer the SAME lunatic liberal candidate, instead of the two identical clones. And even then, most voters won't catch on.

I don't know why people despise casual sex, you gotta get some comfort from somewhere. Not everybody is cut out for a LTR.
