ABC News reported Saturday night that Loughner had identified among his favorite books "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx, Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and the fiction classic "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" -- hardly the reading list of a Palin supporter.
Other clues have emerged about Loughner's persona from Arizona press reports:
He is "described by friends and former classmates as a loner, prone to dressing in black regalia of boots, trench coat and baggy pants even on the hottest days." A real redneck! NOT!
He was removed from Pima Community College "for causing disruptions in classrooms and the library, college officials said. His dispute with college officials led him to post a bizarre YouTube video declaring the college illegal under the U.S. Constitution and culminated in his suspension from campus." Never heard any Tea partier rant about that. Have you?
His rants against the government that have surfaced on the Internet don't suggest he had a conservative perspective on big government. Instead Laughner's MySpace featured a photo "showing a close-up picture of an automatic handgun sitting atop a book or paper titled 'United States History.'" Another video shows a masked man burning the American flag. Not too patriotic, is he?
"I can't trust the current government because of fabrications," Loughner wrote in a YouTube slideshow. "The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar." Pretty far out there. Way out.
Loughner suggests that he was rejected from entering the U.S. Army to which he applied because he was offered a "mini Bible" during the recruitment process, but that he declined to "write a belief on my Army application and the recruiter wrote on the application: None." There has to be more to this story???
Dear Sarah Palin: Once again, you have shown your true colors with your false condolences to the victims of this latest tragedy in Tucson. You have not one drop of sincere compassion in your body, you have limited grey matter, absolutely zero class and you are a disgrace to all human beings who support and promote tolerance of different ideas and beliefs. Don't quit your day job to go to law school anytime soon. The evidence that you cite as "damning" is very weak and very cirumstantial.
Did you know that the kid's obession with Gifford predates Palin's rise to national prominence? That's why it's weak.
It's circumstantail because the kid does a lot of political ranting on the internet and Palin is not mentioned by him once. It's unclear whether he was influenced by her or not.
Personally I think the voices he was influenced by were the ones in his head.
What's even more sickening is that this poor congresswoman was on Sarah Palin's infamous "hit list", which had her district and name targeted with a cross-hair on her Facebook webpage. Take it from there....
Yep...and using expressions like "tear Sean Hannity apart" has to end before someone else goes off, or is this ridiculous witch hunt only aimed at conservatives?
And in a way, you can have sympathy for Loughner's family if he has one.
Imagine being someone whose child or sibling or even cousin committed such a terrible act?
In a way it might be even worse.
More than likely, this family will have to relocate away from Tucson eventually, if not sooner. Many of the victims' family members, invariably, are going to blame the parents. This happens too frequently.
I knew a mother, who's son went on a shooting rampage at a grocery store in town here, killing 4 people, and she was harrassed to no end by the victim's families, she had no choice but to relocate.
At least the parents won't have to send their son money in prison to feed his commissary account. He may be the envy of all the other inmates in the facility he'll be assigned to, as sympathasizers will, undoubtedly, keep his account flush with funds forever and ever.

This appears to be less and less about politics and more about madness. He distrusted ALL politicians, doesn't matter what party. That's the point that people are missing. And people that are mentioning Palin, all I can say is - huh?

Clearly his beliefs were so out there you can't classify it according to any party affiliation. Unbalanced kids his age don't get this from reading talk radio or watching CNBC or FOX or listeing to speaches, their attention span isn't wired for that, they get this from reading crazy internet sites. Who knows, I've read some crazy stuff here in this forum about 9/11 theories, monetary systems, the new world order, government mind control, atheism - those were his interests, combined in some bizzare makeup. He could have been inspired by some of the loonies here.
It's really sad people are comparing this to any of our political systems in this country.
Has anyone heard anything about his family? Usually a spokesperson will extend their condolences to the victims and their families. Anything?
