Maybe those pollsters need to poll America, not just democrats and the DC area.

Thats how Republicans and Hilary lost to Obama, believing any ole body can beat this dude. I imagine they will take this dude seriously this time. If he can bust a move for Hispanics and end the war, then it will be tough for Republicans. At the current pace of his administration that is a real possibility. If conservatives don't have to offer anything more than "lets make him look bad" politics, Obama could very well be passing the mantle to Bill Richardson in four years.

"Look at what's coming in 2012. Every election becomes less white," says Carville. "Republicans are forced to double down on older whites, which is, long-term, not a very productive place to be," he adds.

The result is so baked in that Obama won't have to work hard to win re-election in 2012, says Carville, Bill Clinton's political guru. "He has to do somewhat better; he doesn't have to do a whole lot better." Adds Greenberg, Obama probably won't even face a primary challenge, he "will be there by himself."

Then why did Obama's party lose control of the House, and get crushed in the Senate, in the midterms? They say the Democratic base doesn't vote heavily in those elections. In fact that trend, Carville suggests, could result in a reversal of the pattern that Democrats win congressional elections while Republicans take the White House.
Pollsters Say Obama Will Win Re-election in 2012 - Washington Whispers (usnews.com)
Absolutely. Stands to reason that this great president will easily win reelection. Obama proving himself to be far too versatile and brilliant for their continued nonsense. It's a delight to watch Obama continue to do well.

What in God's name gives Republicans the notion that they stand a chance? The last time they suckered the country into putting a GOP person in office was in '00 and '04 with that village idiot. 8 horrific years of that crap! They haven't changed for the better, with pathetic people like Beck, Limbaugh, and Palin as theur representatives. They are a shamefully dreadful party.

he is right with the changing demos that republicans are in big trouble. republicans cant win with just white males anymore. that won't get the job done.

to answer the question about the midterms, the reason why the dems got crushed was because they were voting for people most have never heard of. the truth is, nobody cares about these midterms. look at the number of people who voted in the midterms and compare it to a presidential election, not even close. nobody cares about joe blowme, but they will when obama is on the ballot.

while the gop has done some minority outreach, it's an insignificant amount, and they know it, which is why they are attempting moreso now to do it then ever.

If Obama wins in 2012, it will be for president of the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America.

Lol, did you happen to notice the latest census data? It is the Dems who are in trouble.

Well, while I think that would be absolutely groovy, I am guessing you don't feel the same way.

If so, don't you think it's important that Republicans actually find an electable candidate to run in 2012? Pollsters are trying to predict the future. No one knows what will happen 2 years from now. What I do know is this, palin ain't gonna cut it. And why isn't Palin electable? Because instead of actually trying to solve problems and unite the country, she goes around and says silly things like "If Obama wins in 2012, it will be for president of the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America"

The Census data didn't say that at all.

In case you were unaware, the Census measures population, not voting habits. All the census said is a lot of people have moved to Republican leaning states. It didn't say that those people were suddenly going to change their voting habits. If 80 million Americans voted Democratic in the last Presedential election, then chances are they will again, regarldess of where they live.

If you look at Pennsylvania and Colorado, they were once solidily Republican States. Then a whole bunch of people moved there, and guess what. Now they are swing states. That maybe very well be the case with all these Southern, republican, states that saw population booms.

I don't think you know what you are talking about. Saying that the census measures the fortunes of a political party is like saying you broke a mirror so now you will have 7 years of bad luck. Sure, you may have 7 years of bad luck, but it probably had nothing to do with the mirror.

Republicans made big gains with white women in the midterms. They also made gains outside their Southern stronghold, the Midwest in particular was a huge success for Reps this year.

As far as saying nobody knows the names of the candidates in the midterms. they might not know who the politicians are in other states but their own local candidates have high name recognition, especially with all the advertising. Besides the lack of star power was no more or less this year than any other midterm, yet the results were not typical. This was truly a historic election. If the GOP was in as much trouble as some Democrats still insist on believing there is no way they could of won as many seats as they did, This isn't 2008 anymore. Independents in particular gave the Dems a chance and most of them do not like what they see to put it mildly.
