Said poster didn't answer your questions about where he/she came from or how long they've been here. So......

Never will say Chicago .... as a crime presumed city had crime slowed development because of it in its core outward. Elsewhere .... of course if seen as more fully a hood. But seems a BIG difference is the gangland shootings that prevail there. Are by far .... Black on Black in hoods. Latino shootings come in 2nd in % with White and Asian a very small % of shootings overall.

Of course, muggings, car break-ins robberies can infiltrate the areas of more wealth and rise. But for some reason ..... much in the way of shootings there is NOT against White individuals in their neighborhoods.

Crime threads were fully banned in the Chicago forum. Obvious reasons as seen as Obama's hometown (but not his, but was his wife's) and political. Its spike over a couple years that went National also a key reason.

The last thing Philly needs is more - National coverage of Black on White shootings and stabbings that show up even in its core and fully gentrified areas..... That still should not stop development and investment. Especially if it continues to lure former more educated New Yorkers as some see as key to continued improvements.

It seems that is a big aim for some. But not so much to the African-American community in helping them.

Also seems areas are showing more a anti-gentrification sentiment? But of course, not stopping it. Having a crime thread also does not help perceptions on C-D. But to some it CAN matter in choices if they are on C-D.

Hopefully, this thread continues to show positive revival, gentrification and CC outward increases that can also help more impoverished areas too. But it has been less active in postings of new developments as it was for a loooong stretch.
I can see these are words. I'll get back to you when I can make sense of them.

LOL... I always give Dave the benefit of the doubt by assuming he's dyslexic. If not,

1.) Trying to understand this made my head hurt

2.) I could care less about the "perceptions" of Philly that CD posters derive from noticing that we have a crime thread. If they're too stupid to understand that crime occurs in every major city, then there's no helping them. Instead, I care about the new, educated, tax-paying residents (and associated jobs that are bringing them here) who are actually moving to the city.

3.) This thread doesn't reflect the reality of everyday life within Philadelphia. Just because you don't see postings about development, doesn't mean that it isn't happening. After living in Cedar Park, I just moved to Francisville. Between Spring Garden and Girard alone, thousands of new units have come on-line in recent years, Ridge Avenue has been COMPLETELY transformed between the two aforementioned streets, the Met and the Divine Lorraine--two buildings that were abandoned as recently as 2016, when I was still a student at Temple--have been brought back to life, and a new tower is about to rise at Broad and Spring Garden.

4.) We don't need more national coverage of anything, but black-on-white shootings are relatively scarce compared to black-on-black shootings. Your garden variety shooting in the hood usually isn't going to make national news.

It's pretty obvious that his first language isn't English. The fact he can write (even if far from perfectly) in another language is impressive. Unfortunately, it dilutes a lot of the points he is trying to make, along with the fact he never misses an opportunity to bring up Chicago in his posts here...

He used to be Steeps and the "word salads" are normal for him. And, nope, I think English is his first language.

Best post of the thread ....as someone said cause you got the gist (def. - the substance or essence of a speech or text). Despite the comment that followed in the USUAL PHILLY FORM.

I surely note all the new infill rows that are mostly multi-residential and even condos. I surely read enough post and my visits to post here and links like - Curbed Philly.

But basically saying .... one cars less what outsiders think. Is the general Philly comment I got though these couple years a few times.

Only city Philly cares thinks of then and it wishes to emulate as much as possible. Is mighty NYC. DC, Boston to Chicago, to Kansas City .... its a fahgetabout it.

You understood enough of my post to reply with this. Despite my pennsyltucky poor sentence structure and grammar.

I TAKE CREDIT FOR REVIVING THE THREAD and Philly unity against me. You need - cpomp back with near daily positive postings on developments. Might be better then daily crime postings in another thread. That show much Black on White crimes.

I do not doubt a lot of Black on Black crime .... never gets posted or in Chanel 6 news. But if in CC .... it surely will or gentrified areas.

Having - kyb01 in the punish me mix of unity here ..... means my honorary thread post privilege she sort of gave me is rescinded.

Very few post I regret posting unless I left many uncorrected spelled typos intact. I have nothing to regret in comments I intended in that post. Sorry guys.

But keep the thread going and be wary of outsiders .... commenting. Guess I need to accept the cream of the crop Philly and Queens, Brooklyn transplants by me moving in. Great culture follows.
