I really wish it was an awesome place then maybe the disgruntled residents would stop moving to Costa Mesa, where I grew up, that is now looking more and more like Santa Ana not the town I grew up in.

Let me be clear I like Hispanics and Latinos, I don't want poor people living this close to me, because POVERTY=CRIME in America. It takes 10 minutes to drive from Tustin Ranch where I live to the ghetto of SA.

Now south Tustin is getting more ghetto, cop gets shot in Tustin? Never happened when my family member taught in Tustin Unified for 30 plus years.

There are too many poor and working class people in Santa Ana for it to ever be such a great place. Like I mentioned south Santa Ana aka South Coast Metro is nice, downtown, 17th Bristol to Fairview meh needs some gentrification.

I actually did my research. Our family friend taught in Santa Ana Unified for over 20 years. She said by the time she retired 90's she needed an escort to go to her car at night. She taught at Valley for 10 of those years.

When we played sports against SAU the gym was locked and opened by an armed guard. We never had that in Costa Mesa.

But I will stop so The Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce can continue their marketing campaign on this thread.

Gentrification is the only way that will become a nice city.

I think that's something that's changed for the worse as well.
Why should being "poor" mean crappy values. We're not talking about poor people stealing a loaf of bread for their starving children here.
I always heard about how poor my family was long ago. My mother even quit school at 14 to sell homemade wares door to door in the depression. But the family was intact and nobody in the family or extended who were poor as well had a rap sheet.

Of course it goes without saying there are people with crappy values who climb the ladder to success as well by cheating and lying.

Have you been to Sean Coolidge farmers market? If so, what is your impression?

It all sounds good on paper but it still has a way to go. I was walking around DTSA last weekend with my gf and I literally only heard one other person speaking English. It's definitely trending towards gentrification but all it will take to stop that is the slowing economies in Europe and Asia to start taking us with them. If investment dollars get scarce I don't think DTSA is going to be in good shape. I work in SA and I'd love to live in an urban area so I'm pulling for it.
