Hopefully, you guys can pull together and stay strong. Times are so tough right now...and the job market is ridiculously bad. It seemed to get better late last year, but from about February up thru today...the job market has been horrid.

My wife and I had the tough decision of filing chapter 7 a short time ago. Ya know, we were plain stupid and the debt just kinda piled up on us through our 20's. And we both got paid well and had our plans to tackle our debt. Next thing you know, I lose my job, and the creditors jacked up interest rates...meaning, we were waaaaay in the red each month and I'd probably be in a retirement home by the time we're able to pay it off. And not many were willing to help us out. We asked for assistance from our mortgage company, and they said, "well...have you been late on your mortgage?" Well...no, but we will be. "Well, I'm sorry, we can only help you when you actually fall behind and are struggling to pay the mortgage." But we are struggling to pay the mortgage. "No you're not." Yes we are. "No you're not." While filing for bankruptcy was admittedly way too easy, it sure didn't feel good. But, in order to protect my house, it was a necessary step.

These issues with the NCESC don't make things any easier on us, who are already on edge. I mean, I've had some pretty crazy anxiety issues since I've been getting this assistance, and when these "NCESC problems" arise, I feel worse. Like, when I had NCESC reps threatening to take my benefits away from me if I didn't participate in the RES program. I almost had a nervous breakdown in there...that's never happened to me before. But cooler heads truly prevailed...and I got through it.

Charlotte Observer website has picked up an N&O story and has it on their main page.

Not sure it had time to go to print for Tuesday.

I am sure you must be worried about your present status, but I have no clues regarding it. Hopefully, you get an appointment letter in your hands, rather then the approval letter. Wish you success in future.

I think many of us will be in this position.... ive done the math and its CLOSE NOW... but still not a perfect match... If I take the $$$ amount i got for year 2 (WRONGLY) and deduct the 7 weeks of tier 2/4 i HAD left, the amount I still OWE is about $80 off from the total of my OVERPAYMENT letters---
my guess is that theyve taken those tier weeks BUT not moved me into EB....
