To Rome With Love - C-. Completely redundant, formulaic, and worthless. You've seen all of these characters at least 4 times before. You've heard all the dialogue at least 4 times before. If this took place in America instead of Rome, nobody would have been fooled.
Wreck-It Ralph - A-. Whooooooo! Now THIS was a fun ride. I was the kid who didn't have a nintendo growing up (didn't particularly want one really), but what can I say? The setting was creative and colorful, the characters were strong, the Bad-Guys Anonymous was really funny, and I for one thought having a "glitch" heroine was endearing. Don't be fooled by the previews - they really picked the dumbest moments for those. Recommended.
Magic Mike - D. I didn't expect this to be good, but I expected it to be entertaining. This, quite simply, did NOT entertain me. Maybe if I cared about the eye candy this wouldn't rival novocaine in its ability to deaden the senses.
Side by Side. A documentary about digital film versus the old school celluloid film. It features interviews with Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, David Lynch, James Cameron, David Fincher, Chris Nolan and many others.
I watched Breaking Dawn & Breaking Dawn 2 over the weekend. I didn't get into Twilight when everyone else did but then FX started showing them on TV & I kinda liked them. I enjoyed the whole series over all & I really liked the ending (although I'd read spoilers so I kind of knew what was going to happen). For a love story involving werewolves & vampires it wasn't that bad.
The Awakening, a British ghost/horror movie.
It was sorta slow at times but I liked it. It was well made and wasn't about evil spirits for once.
I recommend it to those who enjoy this type of movies.
