I just saw 'Trouble With The Curve' and I enjoyed it very much, and especially Amy Adams, who was flat-out wonderful.

Saw 2 Matthew McConaughey movies in 1 weekend. I like him, adore his acting, his Austin drawl & he's odd in that he can be handsomely gorgeous from certain angles, to just quirky or goofy from others.

Lincoln Lawyer was the first. I wanted to like it because the premise of the movie sounded unusual (somewhat similar-ish to Paul Newman's The Verdict, but still unusual), but the plot & his character were just too unbelievable & his role was too Rico Suave to buy. Marisa Tomei, whom I also love & feel has never had the notoriety she deserves was similarly unbelievable in that she played the most understanding ex-wife in the history of mankind. Totally disappointing overall & way too many courtroom scenes with a stupid Hollywood ending. I know it's a lawyer movie, but he works out of his car & I don't like & didn't expect so much of it to have taken place in the courtroom. I dislike & shun courtroom dramas. Also, everything was wrapped up more like a sitcom on TV... all fell into place far too quickly & in fact, this would have been a better TV movie of the week. Some parts were good, but overall, I cannot recommend it. 2 out of 5*

The second was Magic Mike. Silly & vapid along the lines of Showgirls with men instead of women. My opinion, but the lead lads were not good looking enough to hold my attention & the story played like a teen movie. McConaughey played the club owner... this was the most creepy (not scary, just in an ick kind of way) role he's played. I just hated everything about this teen movie billed as mature entertainment. 1.5 out of 5*

After so many clunkers lately, I need a good dose of good movie entertainment... may have to pull out some old classics with Jimmy Stewart, Sinatra, Gable, the Marx Bros. or Cary Grant to tide me over.

I saw "The Master" last evening and walked out after one hour. I just could not get into that film despite really liking the two main actors.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Better than I thought it would be.
Super 8. Pretty good, lots of action and very good acting by all the kids.

Yesterday I saw The Master and last night I watched John Carter of Mars. It wasn't a good day.
