Gulliver's Travels, the 1939 animated film made, produced by Max and Dave Fleischer, which was their response to the success of Disney's Snow White from 1937
"Somewhere". Thought it was a lot like "Lost In Translation" even before learning it was another Sofia Coppola film. Both aren't worth seeing twice and calling either a "comedy" is absurd. Goes to show how a famous name can make "scriptless movies" and win awards.
I re-watched Only Yesterday. I liked it fairly well the first time, but the second time I began noticing more and more clever details, excellent composition in many scenes, and far more symbolism than I picked up on the first time. Now I've come to realize that the film is pretty darn brilliant, much more so than it may seem at first glance.
Silenced, One of those movies, I wanted to push the stop button because it was too heart wrenching, but felt an obligation to watch it till the end. No fluffy US coddling style ending here. Of course making it so much worst, not a fictional story.
Last night we went to the budget theater ($2.50) to see "The Odd Life of Timothy Green". It was kind of like an adult fairy tale. A bit long for the subject matter and I suppose because it was the "budget theater" the sound was terrible.. I guess they just can afford to replace the speakers or the sound system. I do like Jennifer Garner but this wasn't one of her best.
Now I hope to go to "Campaign" but will see it at the regular theater.
