^ I am glad The Help is a good movie. I am a huge fan of the book and was hoping the movie would be as good as the book was.

Movies I watched last night: two chick flicks. You again and Letter to Juliette. They were both OK. The best part about You Again was Betty White.
The best part about Letters...was Vanessa Redgrave. I was disappointed in Amanda Sygfried, I thought she was a better actress than she was in this movie.

Just saw "The Help" this afternoon. Outstanding movie with a very strong cast and many Oscar-worthy performances.

For those of you who are wondering, the movie is every bit as good as the book. It's a must see!!!

Le Concert. I'm a sucker for movies focusing on classical music, it happened to be entertaining as well.

The new Planet of the Apes flick. I had fairly low expectations going into it, but it was not half bad in my opinion. Great CGI and cinematography throughout. I felt it was worth the $$$.

Oh I know, never a dull moment in that movie!

Well, my cousin wanted me to see the 'House Bunny'. It was a pretty good movie, but I wasn't too impressed. There were, however, a few funny lines from it that keep repeating in my head.

I just watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" on Netflix. Great documentary. Everybody should watch it at least once.

Potiche, had some very funny moments. Especially found myself in hysterics from part of the story where the son went to rescue the father.

Depature, Absolutely beautiful movie dealing with a subject I usually try to avoid, tears, mourning, funerals. Almost made me rethink my stance on attending any future such events, but, I might have to watch it a few more times to get me to another one of those morose things.

Invictus, thank goodness I was able to end my movie viewing evening on a high note; a very high note to boot. I usually fast forward through any sporting activity that takes place in most movies, but I couldn't tear my eyes from the screen. I had the hand/body reflex for the remote, but the whole of the movie was just too good to fast forward through. All around wonderful movie and sound track. Really feel good film.

Just saw the Irish film, 'The Guard' at the Mayan Theatre in Denver... a must visit theatre for newcomers to the area... small but beautifully designed theatre which serves adult drinks at the bar on the 2nd floor. We didn't imbibe this time... had $4 water instead... still enjoyed our theatre going experience. Always draws a nice crowd, which is a bonus.

Brendan Gleeson & Don Cheadle co-star... they play off each other quite nicely as a crime fighting duo. As an Irish Brit, perhaps I appreciate the dark humor & sarcasm a bit more & am not offended by the cruder jokes. My American theatre mate enjoyed it as well (if that tells you anything of the plot & humor) & the theatre regularly errupted in laughter. I'd give it 4 of 5 stars. Nicely done & a lovely way to spend a 90-degree afternoon... in a theatre serving Guinness.

For newcomers... visit the Mayan for a lovely afternoon (they've got some Steve McQueen & James Bond movies during August)... the staff is extraordinarily friendly & informative, the movies are varied & hey, we've gotta spend a few $$ from time to time to have fun.
