Early '90s Stephen King joint.. interesting concept about an author's dark side, taking physical form.
And basically killing his inner circle & messing with his life..
Some cool, tense scenes.. not a lot of gore (some straight razor attacks, but..)
Decent horror, supernatural movie. I give it a 6 (on a 10 pt. scale).
I was watching " Secret Life of Walter Mitty" with Ben Stiller. I think Stiller's star has set for a while now, but this movie made me want to see how it ended. Not that it was a great film, but it got better and I wanted to see how the character
grew and prevailed.
It was pretty bad at first, the dream sequences. Then we saw more of Mitty's back story and he became more interesting. Shirley McCaline was as good as she's ever been in a small role. Adam Scott may basically play the same character every time, but he does it so well. And there are some pretty fine actors well known for playing the same character over and over. The other characters he encountered seemed real. He became who he was supposed to be.
Maybe a weak spot was Sean Penn playing the elusive photographer. He seemed out of character to play Sean Oconnell. I was thinking of him as a Liam Neeson. Larger than life, not so pretentious.
Still, it got me watching it to the end. I'm glad I didn't stop during that terrible Stretch Armstrong sequence.
It's 80s, there's no horror in it to me, and yet......it's a very good feel good type movie. Nice getaway location (Greece), nice toys in boats, a good cast, a good hunk, a good ending, and even a good end song. The type of movie when it is done, okay you have to come back to reality but it leaves nice memories.
When you willing to give any movie out of the bargain bin batch a chance, you can find entertainment anywhere. This movie seems to have everything....from every movie, ever made. It goes on and on and on. There are probably better movies for 100 minutes but, alas, there are worse movies, too.
