With Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawk?
Slow to me -- watching it on cable
Saw "Lean of Pete" Sunday
More depressing than I anticipated
Very realistic and sad view of how the so many people are adrift in our society today
Scary how easy it is for older teens to fall in the gaping cracks
I saw Daddy's Little Girl on some station recently. And I think that there are two versions of it, but I saw the Idris Elba/Gabrielle Union version. But I was really, really impressed with it and was surprised that it was that good. Also, it ended up having me in tears.
Tuesday I started "The Day of the Jackal" (1973) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069947/?ref_=nv_sr_2
and that's a great movie. The kind of thing that one can't "put down" unless they have to. Did about 48 minutes of it on Tuesday and finished it this morning.

Edward Fox is great in this. Nominated for the Best Film Editing Oscar. I also liked the 1997 remake The Jackal (1997) with Bruce Willis.

Both flicks were the first times I saw either.
I guess I am one of the few who paid to see John Carter and enjoyed it
Steampunk design mashed w/early Star Trek

I have the remake in the library and actually started it the other week....but feel asleep soon into it. It will probably eventually be watched but there are so many, many movies in the library so probably at least not for a week for a DIE SPY! Tuesday.

If you say so on the steampunk. As it is, I have read some of the books, I think my first was when I was 13 or so with #8 Swords of Mars and I am currently part way through another. I think I have all or almost all of the paper backs both in interest of the concept and because Michael Whelan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Whelan did the cover illustration of one publication series. Mr. Whelan was a term paper focus in one of my undergraduate degrees.
In any event, I am familiar with the story. Granted, the movie twisted some parts of it but then again, when it came to Dejah Thoris, they hit her dead center.
The other thing is that Heinlein's "The Number of the Beast" is a favorite book so with that, I'm already very much into the story, one way or another.
Of course, Heinlein's "D.T." and Burroughs' "DT" are worlds apart.
