Yeh I guess we are not doing that. My meeting was boring.

I really don't think this is going to work. I just went to my local grocery store and it was a mad house. There was almost a car accident in the parking lot because people weren't concentrating on looking behind them. Everyone is home and it is warm and they have nothing to do. There were also plenty of people with gray hair there.

I work for one as essential staff and today our programs received red badges. They are in preparation for MA declaring shelter in place or something similar. In case we get pulled over, need to go to another program, etc. we show the badge and should be all set. At the end of the shift we’re supposed to keep the badges in the program though so what we do on our ways back home is anyone’s guess. I know of at least one other company that is doing this as well.

People keep talking about "martial law." There's not going to be any martial law.


Martial law is declared when civilian law enforcement and civilian court systems fail, requiring the implementation of military tribunals. Martial law can be declared at different levels and in different regions. A governor, for instance, can declare martial law for a county.


A governor calling in the Guard for extra manpower isn't a declaration of martial law, even if it's to control a riot.



The civilian courts are fine. There won't be military tribunals, there won't be a declaration of martial law.

However you want to call it. I specifically mean no freedom of movement for any reason, unless you are 'essential' (ie: health care workers and first responders/millitary only, and only for getting back and forth to work and nothing else). Given that Newsom has already raised the prospect, it'll happen in CA eventually.

Yeah this seems like an added precaution since a lot of non-essential staff have badges at my company too. Although the badges they’re handing out for this don’t look really official or believable if an officer is that skeptical for instance. It’s pretty much just thick stead paper that has been printed out and laminated. No identification numbers or that much company info on it outside of some phone numbers.

I know a Boston cop who said they were all alerted that there might be a shelter in place tomorrow.

I have to pick up a cake at a bakery now, not tomorrow because they don’t know if they’ll be open. It’s my daughters birthday

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night.

Yup, it could happen at any time. However a week ago we were hearing about people who knew people who said a national lockdown was imminent within 48 hours.

Pick up your cake to be on the safe side, but I wouldn't worry too much.

ahh no. That won't happen. People still have to get food and medicine.

I just have a feeling that everyone had it ready to go and Baker said not this week. My meeting was full of stuff we already know -- kind of felt like they had it set up for the shelter in place and then had to come up with an excuse.

So we are up to 400 cases and 50 or so hospitalized.

And the one death was of an 87 year old man who was already hospitalized when he got the corona virus.

I am kind of surprised at the constant plea for masks and supplies. I would have thought they would have been ready for this. Thank god it wasn't something worse like Ebola. Mary Walsh asked asbestos mask makers to contribute masks.
