It's so frustrating to see how behind the curve we are.

My 21 YO daughter was going to ask the 85 YO across the street if she wanted a "caregiver." That 85 YO was out shoveling her driveway this week and still works part time as an aide in a nursing home. She says she keeps working because "I like to help the old people."

UMass Amherst is turning into a cluster...it sounds like the university has contacted employers and told them to not have students work. (press F5 to reload and do CTRL+P it can kinda bypass the paywall)

You have 5,000 students on campus and 8,000 off campus. Telling 13,000 people anywhere they can't work will have a significant impact.

But does that mean everyone 75+ who wanted it has been vaccinated? We are in phase 2, but I'm certain phase 1 isn't close to complete. Also, 65 is just a number. Florida opened at 65+. It doesn't mean they are ahead of the game and doing it well (they aren't). In fact, allowing the 65-75 demographic in at the same time essentially boxed out the 75+ group.

Boston Globe (as above posted) shows Craigslist ads for people who will pay the elderly $200 to get the shot with them...

Good money for seniors!

How many elderly 75+ do you think read craigslist on a regular basis?

No, it seems that hardly any of them have gotten vaccinated unless they live in a nursing home or assisted living. However, my cousin in Wellesley just got hers. She got it through her senior center and went on the day of the snowstorm. Come H*** or H*** water, she was not going to miss out! THAT'S how hard it is to get vaccinated, that an 86 yr old will drive in a snowstorm to get it.

That entire campus should be shut down, imo. Going back years and years, they never enforce anything, they have high rise dorms and how are they going to make sure everyone stays in their dorm room. They've got to be kidding. Do they really think the off campus students are going to stay in their rooms, lol. It's a big mess and they'll just spread it to all the neighboring towns.

I didn't read the above article but I saw that Hadley can't open up due to being next to UMass. It affects everyone who lives around there, Northampton, Easthampton, Amherst residents. It's so unfortunate that Zoo Mass is right there.

According to the Vaccine data, 184k 75+ have gotten one dose and 70k 65-75. From a quick look at the census there are about 1.1M 65+. Sadly if they stick to the 25k per day versus the 35k they did on Wednesday it's going to take awhile.
