I just saw someone on Facebook announced they’re keeping their kid home she won’t be attending kindergarten this year. Because of corona. This just seems weird to me. Maybe some people don’t think it’s a big deal but this kid will now always be a year older than her classmates because her mother held her back from going to school over an illness she probably wont even get that seems to have little effect on children. People are crazy.

Some schools have made arrangements for kids who can't go in person (like there might be someone in the family who is high risk). Did she inquire about that? How about home schooling for a year?

I don’t know. I guess she just felt the need to let everyone on Facebook know that her kid was not going to kindergarten this year.

Well Kindergarten isn't required in MA so the child may start in Grade 1 in the fall of 2021.

Ah I didn’t realize that. The mother did make a point to say the girl would start kindergarten in 2021

Plenty of kids "red shirt" kindergarten, even in normal years. My daughter had a boy almost a full year older than her last year.

That's not unusual with boys. They generally aren't as mature and also because of sports. It would be rarer for a girl.

I’m amazed at how often I hear this. I’ve had to excuse myself from conversations so I don’t burst out laughing in the face of people who relay this information with a straight face. I feel bad for their kids.

You've got that backwards, porterhouse.

The drivel is the follow-up (well, gee, maybe the 78% didn't have healthy hearts to start with ) and the garbage being posted here by a fast-talking COVID minimizer.
