I hope you're right. Give Baker a lot of credit...he was the last one to reopen.

Not to diminish his role, but he is fortunate to be dealing with one of the more rational populations. I know plenty of business owners who were crushed by this, but still very understanding or even supportive of measures. Not a huge no-touchy-snake crowd in this region.

I hope porterhouse is right also, but it doesn't seem to be a realistic viewpoint. With 16 states spiking if not surging, I don't see how that won't eventually affect the whole country.

Yes, it's true, you need some level of buy-in, and of course compliance, to make policies work. Fortunately, I don't think Mass is a big "it's just a hoax!" kind of state.

Agreed. Even my Limbaugh-lite crowd was pretty amiable to Covid measures.

Cases mean nothing, and are completely irrelevant. How about the decrease in all of this worldwide though? The trend is frankly undeniable.

The tiny increases you see in these graphs are correlated with the media panics, while the massive downturn is completely ignored.

How do you explain other states having done much better than Mass without the extreme measures of Mass?

Seems like he deserves no credit whatsoever. Mass has some of the worst numbers in the nation.

Sorry, I stand by my statement. If you read the in-depth Globe article that went into the spread in MA in great detail, the critical date was Mar 3. But keep in mind, this would have been 12 days before the most aggressive state (California) issued its clampdown. Considering the exposure we have in Mass (huge normal influx of international visitors), and the way Baker has based his decisions on data vs. public pressure, I give him a lot of credit.

You can't compare MA vs. a state like Montana or Oklahoma which never had the same pandemic exposure factors to begin with.

yeah sorry here too, but I 100% stand by my statements as well. If you look at pretty much any in depth statistical analysis on anything other than main stream panic porn media, you see undeniable trends.

I never mentioned Montana actually. How about MA vs California then? Huge international presence there. We can keep shifting the goalposts indefinitely I suppose. But I think it's just to justify an unjustifiable narrative that is falling apart day by day.
