Regarding hospitalizations and deaths, I'm wondering it's more a matter of Delta vs Omicron than it is vaccination status.

When someone gets covid, they don't know if it's Omicron or Delta.

Is it possible that all of the people having problems have the Delta variation? And all the people with mild cases are Omicron?
Not only Delta, even Alpha is still around in RI- surprisingly around 14%?- according to the RI data ending Dec 29th

It has 46 mutations and 37 deletions.
According to this article you posted in your other post - the first person was vaccinated

Has anyone noticed traffic has dropped off considerably? Got on I95 in Lynnfield this AM for my typical commute and found it to be 15 mins shorter than usual. There was one point there wasn't a car near me for about 1/4 mile front and rear.

Combination of people WFH, folks out sick, and perhaps some folks extending their vacation time a few extra days?

My company announced the other day that they have pushed back the return-to-office plans. It's possible a lot of companies are extending or reinstating remote work with this current surge.

That's interesting. My comments were regarding this weeks commute. Each day this week has been wide open with my commute times on par with March 2020.

I've seen restaurants and hair salons shutting down the past week or so. Mainly due to staffing issues.

My dept cancelled a virtual welcome back meeting on Friday because a lot of people are out sick.

My fiancee's returned to full remote through the end of Feb. due to the surge. Mine has not, but we have allowed staff to work remotely if they feel safer. A good few have taken that opportunity. We also just got back from vacation yesterday and I'm noticing a lot of out of office replies. So I imagine it's the combination of several factors.
