Italy is headed for another lockdown:

Kind of feels like deja vu to a year ago when we watched what was happening in Italy then it happened here. Hoping history doesn't repeat itself.

Big difference is that only a small amount of Italians have gotten a vaccine and it's the crappy AZ one.

From 4 days ago:

Fauci warns U.S. Covid cases may ‘plateau again at an unacceptably high level’

States are loosening restrictions and the New York variant is a concern.

"Last week, Fauci said the Biden administration was taking the emergence of the New York strain “very seriously.” He said U.S. officials would need to “keep an eye” on the strain, including the possibility that it could evade the protection of antibody treatments and vaccines."

I got my first vaccination last weekend, a little ahead of average for 65-75 year olds, I think. I have Atrius Health as an HMO, and they offered appointments "when available" and one came up, so I took it. I had to travel from Stoneham to Norwood, but I thought it was worth it. Now will it make any real long-term difference, who the hell knows. But just to feel that you've done something, makes you feel better!

As you may have heard, the pride of Brockton, Marvelous Martin Hagler died at the age of 66.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler Dead: One of Boxing’s ‘Four Kings’

About an hour before his death was announced, his friend Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns posted on Instagram:

"A real true warrior Pray for the king and his family.. he’s in ICU fighting the after effects of the vaccine! He’ll be just fine but we could use the positive energy and Prayer for his Full Recovery !"

I'm curious how he's been able to establish a link between the vaccine and the death of his friend? Perhaps he's taken too many jabs to the domepiece.

At least a 60-something boxer has CTE to blame. I don’t think 30% of the country has CTE.

Default Astra Zeneca VAccine

Half a dozen nations have suspended use of the Astra Zeneca vaccine after blood clots were found in some patients' lungs. The thing about adverse events is, they always need to be examined for a mechanistic link and comparison to rates observed in people not receiving the treatment - it can be merely coincidental. According to this doctor interviewed by the BBC, the rates of pulmonary embolism observed have been the same or lower than one might expect in any group of people the size of the AZ vaccine recipients. So this is likely just coincidence.
