Heard that road was beyond wild and possibly closed due to ice! It is a lovely route - drove it last January during a snowstorm to celebrate a friend's B-Day and went to Airline Brewery in Ellesworth!

"The Airline" is a superhighway compared to the way it used to be. The Whaleback used to be terrifying in winter and there were cars down over the banks for years if they were not worth dragging back up. As children we were told that some of the cars had skeletons in them.

1:30pm Map. Lots of moisture to come. Stay safe guys..

Temps are in the teens and 20s across the state.

Expect a changeover at the coast after sunset. Ends overnight everywhere.

The blue outline is a discussion for heavy snows rates

Love those Rural Legands! Thanks! Route 9 was not plowed going East during the Evening Commute....It was much easier than when it's i plowed! Understand it's been improved, however, it is still a VERY fast journey (and sometimes in trechous (sp?), conditions!

Currently here in Aurora, ME..24FDegrees, Dew Point 22F Degrees, Winds, ENE 10mph...Snowing
Sever Weather Alert still in effect until 1:00am Thursday...5-8" of snow & ice accumulations of a light glaze expected...
Who knows what tomorrow will bring - drove home East on Route 9..No State Snow plow (and am thankful it is much easier) in a few inches of show (still slippery)! Thankful the storm was delayed and less than anticipated during evening commute!
