From 14hrs ago....
Currently here in Downeast, Maine…5F Degrees, 0F Degrees Dewpoint, Winds WNW 5mph, Gusts 14mph…Cloudy
Thinking of those who are, without tonight!
Without a friend or family…
Without heat or running water!
Such simple necessities…
Which I’m thankful for every morning!
I’ve been in a homeless shelter…
I know the need!
I actually asked for a second helping..
When I first received!
It’s beyond the shelter…
We hope to achieve!
That place where our hearts long…
In Community!
To belong amongst those…
Who know He is and will be!
Everything we could imagine …
And that depth within me!
Is held in Victory…
And explodes!

Default The Best is yet to come!

Currently, here in Downeast Maine...
22F Degrees, Dew Point 16F Degrees, Winds W5mph, Wind Gusts 12mph..Clear and the Gloaming has arrived!

The First Christmas Eve I can remember spending at home...
As a Caregiver, I've worked 14hrs a days (two hours spent commuting daily), frequently and last year, I worked ALL Holidays!
This year even before Spring, I began to work for another agency....
They put me on long shifts (anywhere from 48-72hr shifts), which meant I spent more time at home and less hours commuting...
It also meant I spent nights away from home, but it wasn't so bad when it was just two to three nights!
There was seven months of 14hr a day shifts, but that stopped in November of this year!
Recently, I received a 48hr shift for Monday morning to Wednesday morning....
It's such a sweet shift and so is my client, I had to pinch myself to be sure it was real!
Furthermore, I can return to some semblance of life...
I am after all, in my 60s, and decided to draw on SS!
Still, the need for Caregivers was so great, I couldn't resist...
and throughout these crazy times I've remained healthy and didn't get covid! I've been able to take care of (even those who were long-term clients, who went into hospice)!
So despite what is happening in our world....
and I don't deny the evil around me,
I've been able to continue in peace and hope!
and this, I extend to you....
God Bless and Keep you during this time!
Fear not!

Currently Here, in Downeast Maine...30F Degrees, Dew Point 29F Degrees, Winds North 2mph, Gusts 4mph...
Looking dicey...
Remembering (Listening to, "Time Passages," by Al Stewart)...
Here's a memory from awhile ago on December 30, 2016:
We set out yesterday after work, with much trepidation, only to find, the storm was delayed in it's arrival...Still, as we approached closer to home we experienced the whirling snow almost engulf us as we traveled on into the darkness...Familiar signposts came and passed (The Baptist Bell tower shining in the darkness, certain snowplow turnoffs, a Gas Station sign at the top of a hill), until finally the light in the distance, which lit the sign to our turn-off, was seen and passed...We sighed as we drove into our driveway in our dooryard....We made it safely home - thanks to your prayers!!
It was still early evening and the impending storm was brewing...

Currently, here in Downeast, Maine...31F Degrees, Dewpoint 31F Degrees, Winds ESE 2mph, Gusts 4mph, Thick Fog!
We ate our breakfast with our fellow patriots at our local diner!
A skiff of snow still clung to the ground and made it interesting for the birds under the birdfeeder...
Enjoyed the day in my Beloved' company...
It was a rare day, indeed!
A day of rest and reflection...
A day of gratitude!
We ate at our local Brewery for Supper!
Laughing and cheering amongst those seeking comfort...
and perhaps hope!
There's plenty to offer...
We've been through thick and thin!
Through richer and poorer!
and sickness and in health...
we've been!
Out here, in Downeast, Maine...
"Those from Away!"
they call us...
and now and then, locals say!
Wish we had more of ya....
and thankful you've stayed!
Just a light in the darkness...
Shining hope into this New Year!

Currently here, at Downeast Maine...
12F Degrees, Dew Point, 20F Degrees!
Winds, NNW 18mph, Gusts 19mph
Light snow...
A return to my 48hr shift (as a Caregiver)!
Thankful I'm not driving in the dark...
Nor returning in the dark, but arriving in the morning!
and returning in the morning...
So grateful for this past week of Celebration!
and as 2022 arrives...
Knowing that the momentum of 2021, will BURST into this year!
and propel me!
through open doors...
anticipated!
Hope is with and lifts me...
and His favor surrounds and embraces!
Eyes wide open...
and they've been for at least four years!
Awake am I..
Stronger than I used to be!
I know the depth of depravity...
This world thought it had upon me!
I will NOT be culled...
for I stand with those whom surround me!
in eternity....
Shining Bright!
Ya, that's me...

Currently here, in Downeast, ME...23F Degrees, Dew Point 22F, Winds NNW 9mph, Gusts 23mph...Lightly snowing, 4" Accumulation of snow with drifts up to 6"

We visited with our local folks at the Amherst General Store (aka - Ralph's Got Gas - another story), where we ate a hardy breakfast and discussed politics and current news (not acquired through cable, but through telegram)!
The storm was brewing and some came in with concerns about Route 9 and how the snow had hidden the sheet of ice underneath and the hills would be a challenge....
Tales of woe from a distant land (A Truckdriver of 25years in Oregon who drover over the Santiam Pass and down the Gorge), were told! We laughed and commiserated....and when one left they were wished safe travels (and mostly prayers), as they went on their way...
We gather every Friday between 8:30 and 10:00am, unless my schedule changes....
It's important to keep community with those whom we dwell!
Thankful and honored to partake...
amongst those whose decendants ferried Washington across the Delaware!
They seem to have forgotten...
but us, "from Away," have not!

Currently, here in Downeast, Maine...15F Degrees, Dew Point 9F Degrees, Winds NW 3mph, Gusts 7mph, Accumulated snow, 5".
A cobalt, blue sky greeted us this morning and the brightness was stunning! We waited until noon before we ventured outside (after a hearty breakfast of cheddar cheese, steak, onions and green peppers folded into an omelet), to clear off and start-up our vehicles...
Remembering my slip and fall yesterday morning, I was more cautious of the ice that lurked underneath the snow...as I was surprised to find myself (in my fleece bathrobe WITHOUT my Phone), laying on the ground.
Our main focus was to clear out the ends of our crescent-shaped driveway (or dooryard), where the snowplow had created a berm..
We weren't out for very long (with our scoops and snow shovel), before our fingers became cold and we needed to retreat indoors for some hot cocoa and a shot of vodka (for me)!
A couple hours later we retired....
I had forgotten how joyful it is to work with my husband, Jon.
