Currently here, in Downeast Maine....22F Degrees, Dew Point 20F, Winds, NNW 5mph, Gusts 14mph...
Tonight's forecast...14F Degrees, Winds NNW 9mph
Watched as the snow engulphed us...
Swirling and whirling around our old house!
Trodded out to feed our resident Blue Jays, Crows and Doves...
Cleared an area from snow, spread their feed and called!
Soon they arrived to gobble, fuss and fight with each other...
It was a joy to watch them!
Amongst all of this was our Flock of Chickadees ...
who dashed and darted amongst it all to get their own!
I'd say we got a good six inches before ....
the inky silhouetted, shadowed-shapes engulphed the Birch Meadows and peace settled!

Currently here, in Downeast, Maine...30F Degrees, Dewpoint, 28F Degrees, Winds, NNW 7mph, Gusts - 20mph...Lightly snowing!

Sometimes we live lives in hope...
and numerous tragedies occur!
it buckles our knees and we fall!
Trauma sets in and with it despair...
Heads bowed!
Then, a light enters our lives...
The long lost hope..!
is birthed in our souls again..
and our heads look up!
The shame which condemned us,..
Is gone!
and there we stand in our naked beauty..
As we were meant to be!
Transparent...
For others to see!
I've seen the darkness and the light...
I've dwelled in those places!
Where one would cringe...
and beg to escape!
Still, I live in Hope...
Knowing Love will embrace me!
and Faith will lift me...
from my knees to joy!

Currently here, in Downeast, Maine....
23F Degrees, Dew Point 14F Degrees, Winds NW 7mph, Gusts 17mph, Accumulating snow 1-2" beginning in 78 minutes...Forecasted Low 18F Degrees..
What a wild week, beginning with the death of our Trailblazer...reliable garage quoted $4300 to replace the transmission + labor....We just had them place studded snow tires on the beast! Then, a client gave my one and only coat to her church believing it was part of her (deceased husband's clothing)! Thankfully they were able to find my coat (by Columbia), and return it to my clients where I will soon be and able to pick-it-up!
Looking for a new vehicle and hoping for the best...
Yes! Still hoping!

Currently here in Downeast, Maine....15F Degrees, Dew Point 3F, Winds 7mph NW, Gusts 13mph...Clear and cold (Much like a day in Bend, Oregon)!

Remembering this morning as Dawn spread across the snow laden Birch Meadows, in soft pastel colors of pink and lavender....
until brightened by sunrise and it's golden glow!
Puffy Blue Jays huddled underneath the bird feeders...
Hoping that the one bold one, on the perch, above, would scatter a few seeds to those patiently waiting below!
Freshly brewed, French Roasted coffee's, steamy fragrance...
wafted through the living room!
It is still so amazing to awaken to Birch Meadows' in the morning..
Beloved, Jon, by my side enjoyed the splendor also!
Peace and thanksgiving in our hearts...
As I shuffled out to the birdfeeders, an hour or so later,
I called the birds with a song similar to a Chickadee call....
One of our tiny resident Chickadees, lit on a branch, no more than ten feet away and sang his lovely song!
It brought me to tears...
The long shifts as a Caregiver (some shifts 48hrs away from home), pouring love into others!
are worth the price...
So I can stand with a can of bird seed, in my numbed hand
and hear that lovely song!
This is where I am refreshed and renewed again...
before I'm off into the fray!

It is so cold in Western Maine that dogs are sticking to fire hydrants...

Winter may finally arrive tomorrow in Maine. Here on the Trans-Maine-Trail it will begin around 1 PM tomorrow. Before it's over, we should get 8 to 15 inches depending on which forecast is correct. The biggest hazard is going to be lack of visibility due to wind and drifting. Next is the falling trees which you may not see until you hit the tree in the road. There will be wires down and power failures. You can check this site to find the estimated time of power recovery in your town:There is a huge number of standing drought killed trees along our roads. Those will be the ones that come down.

With the strong winds out of the east and northeast, tomorrow would be a very good day to stay home. I have not heard the NWS say the word, "bombogenesis" yet, but with the warm ocean and cold air above, we could get more than what was forecast this afternoon.

Northern Maine Land Man Update 1:
I got my first biowarfare immunization yesterday. I get the booster on February 28.

Northern Maine Land Man update 2:
My VK-540 snowmobile is too heavy for me. I'm looking for an inexpensive long track snowmobile with reverse. I don't want a 1,000 cc screamer. I just want a reliable 350 to 500 long track, preferably a Skidoo. I had a 503 Skandic yars ago, but it did not have reverse. A Tundra 2 with reverse could work. Just send me a PM if you know of one.

Northern Maine Land Man update 3:
I sold my third airport. Closed on it last week.

How long of a track? And are you looking for 4 or 2 stroke? Sounds like a 600 ACE 4 stroke might be a good candidate.
