Yeah, big "rain" storm coming with some strong winds. The center of the storm is WEST of the state. That never brings snow. Needs to be EAST for the best snowstorms

The East branch of the Penobscot went from 2,000 CFS to 10,000 CFS in six hours and is still rising fast. The PIscataquis and Penobscot Rivers are both rising very fast. Many small streams are over their banks. I recommend staying in this evening. Desoite the near full moon, it will be difficult to see washouts on back roads.

59° for a high here today. All windows were covered in rain this morning telling me the wind had a "spin" on it which is unusual for this time of year and for that matter any time of the year. According to "The Old Farmers Almanac" this will end shortly and will get back to regular programming very soon.

The East Branch of the Penobscot is at 17,600 CFS and still rising fast. The old record was 11,800 CFS this date in 2006.

The Piscataquis is 50% higher than the all time record for this date based on 89 years of data. 32,000 CFS. Upstream, at Dover Foxcroft it it 70% higher than the all time record based in 118 years of data.

Lots of rivers in western Maine are more than 50% above their all time records for this date. Some have crested.

Meanwhile, in eastern Maine, streams are about double the rate for the date, but it is essentially a non-event.

I do not remove my loader-bucket and mount my snow-blower until after I have a solid base of ice on my driveway. Once there is a good base layer then my snow-blower will not pick up rocks and throw them. In mid-winter, if the base layer ever melts away then I tend to start picking up rocks again.

I pieced together the snowfall forecast maps from NWS. . Some offices still have to update like NWS Albany and this is subject to multiple changes.
