R U Kidding me? Last time Caribou Maine had less than 12 inches of snow on the ground was November 29th. WTF? Almost 4 months!

So basically it's a Record amount of consecutive days with 12"+ snow on the ground and still counting. Records go back 78 yrs.

So basically none of us have seen this many days with 12"+ there.

I posted instructions how to retrieve the snow depth for the NWS offices if you're interested.

Apparently 1 yr had 2 days with missing data and that year was the most but we'll surpass that year too.

1968-69 had 120 days in a row with 12"+ on the ground.

I was on a property in Springfield yesterday and the snow depth was exactly even with the top of the picnic table. There are three distinct layers of crust in that snow and deer are traveling easily. The deer look good and well fed.

That's just incredible. More so that there hasn't been less than a foot of snow on ground in some areas since November. Insane.

Here is how the National Weather Service Office looked this morning. 26" snow depth still.

"There is a chance that we could start the month of April with a top 10 snow depth"

"8am snow depth here @NWSCaribou was 29" - good for 5th deepest recorded snow pack on this date."

You guys are making me jealous. Thinking about moving to Maine from Colorado Denver area. We have had snow for maybe a total of 12 days this entire winter. Other then that just dry dry dry dry dry weather. 120+ days of over 12 inches sounds right up my ally.

So if that's insane what's a average year look like ? How many days with 12 inches or more?

It's not THAT crazy. It's just that most years we get a big melt in January or February (for a week or so). This year we didn't really get that. Plus the snow came a little bit earlier than usual (early December).
Our actual snow totals this year are about 18 inches over the average. Not that much.

(Now, ask me about the winter of 2007-08...!!!!)
