Yup! Just what we had also in our count. Here in Princeton, we have had 66 inches.

We are at almost 100 inches here in Caribou. That is quite a bit more than last year. However, late February and March were quite snowy last year (the snowmobiling crowds were crazy in March, as this was almost the only place in the northeast to have any snow).
That said, our 100 inches is only a bit above normal. And it is only half of what we ended up with in the winter of 2007-08. Now THAT was a winter!......

We have five days of "gawgis" weather ahead. Partly sunny or sunny every day. Time to shovel off your roofs because it will eventually rain. You don't want all that snow in your bedroom some night. It would make Mother grumpy.

Not when they are three stories up. And much harder using a roof rake when you are 68 years old.

We have about 70 inches now on MDI. This is probably about where we should be at this time of year. Unfortunately we got 58 of those inches in the past 11 days. We normally get about 75-90 inches a year, so we should get another big storm or a couple of piddling ones before its all over. of course 2 years ago we got about 155 inches total, about double the average.

Yesterday my neighbour up north sent me some pictures of the snow banks in northeastern Nova Scotia that came from the same storms that trekked through Maine in the past week. It was coming half way up the windows of the houses - and they got no snow at all till this last storm .. most of the precip fell as rain along the coast or if there was snow it was quickly gone when followed by rain. I am sure it is as bad (or worse) where you are in Maine as it is there. I am in NC right now and honestly glad I am from what I have seen of how much there suddenly is.

I came south only a little over 2 weeks ago and though the grass was not growing profusely you could still see and it was still green in many places all the way from my small town in NS, through NB, and Maine and on down.

I do hope these heavy storms stop now - for everyone's sakes. Enough already. Those who like to ski, snowshoe, skidoo, etc. have enough to keep them happy in the woods for a bit I am sure - but the rest of us would like to think that March will not come in like a lion this year too. Not to mention that in a couple of weeks I expect to be trying to get back up north again.

As for you all in Maine .. stay warm and cozy .. and don't shovel all that snow yourselves if you are older or not in tiptop shape.
