Yeah.... when the temperature goes above 90, when I'm in Texas, I usually take off all my clothing except for my briefs, and get arrested---because I don't look good almost naked anymore(look for the some on YOU TUBE. I never get a chance to do that here in Maine.

Well not really.... I was only in Texas once(Friends Wood), and i was much much younger.

We have already had two frosts in Lee and Springfield. Not the whole towns, just in the normally cooler low areas.

No Frost yet, but it just got too cold in the house. When you heat with wood, you don't have to be cold. And when the house temperature approaches the high 50's, its time to start up the stove. It was about 61 this evening.

Earlier today, I re-stove blacked the pipe, and touched up sections on the stove itself. I put masonry cement between the grooves inside the firebrick lining that had shrunk a bit due to use. I think the firebrick will make one more year. I started the exhaust fan to draw air from one side of the live/din/kitchen(HGTV Open concept), and started the stove. Shortly the fire alarms went off and the dog freaked out, and had to be tied outside for about 2 hours.

Monday morning my chimney sweep guy blows in from Searsmont to do the clean out for me and my next door neighbor, but except for the top 5 feet or so, it really doesn't need it. So the season of no heating is over at 3 months. Now we go back to the heating season.

It starts with one heat every 5 days or so. Then by October 20 or so, every other day. Then by late November to early December every morning. Then by mid December to late December, morning and evening. And then in January to late February, usually all day, or three loadings. Then in March it goes back to morning and evening. Then in April, just in the Morning, and by May every other day spreading out to every three days and every four days, and unless we have a sudden cold spell in late June, ending around June 15.

Default A Little North of you in the Hills

Thanks for the heads-up! Would love to have the wood heat (dries out a home very well)!
Remember my parents (and our Homestead in the Foothills of the Cascades, in Mill City, Oregon), who had a wood stove in the Kitchen and an oil furnace to heat their home.
Autumn was enchanting with the smell of seasoned wood burning in the air and warmth in a kitchen where loved-ones gathered around a table for coffee and good conversation.
My parents always had three cords of wood stored...How many cords do you keep stored here in Bar Harbor, Maine, for your home?

I did a little splitting yesterday. It was a nice Autumn day in the 60s.

Here are this mornings temps... Chilly morning. 5-15 below normal from NJ to Maine. There is a Polar Low in Quebec sending down a cold north flow.
