BTW .. chew on this for a little. Bangor has had 4 days in the 80s this month. Philly & D.C NONE.

D.C having one of the coldest May's on record and cloudy too.

Get ready for more 80s though for Maine...entire Northeast. Thursday into the weekend

Hi Group!

Here in Western CT we've been 'cookin' with 83 degrees on Wednesday, 86 Thursday, 85 Friday and a steamy 86 degrees with a 65 degree dew point today (Saturday).

(Before that, we had our last woodstove fires, last Sunday/Monday nights).

New England weather, go figure.

I'm ready for the next Arctic Oscillation and Blizzard...

I H-A-T-E the high temps and high dew points.

I want to live somewhere where it never gets above 75!

My wife and I will be moving to Western Maine next year this time.

Hopefully around Rangeley/Upton/Lake Umbaygog area.
Just have to find the right house to rent

I sure got a thrill out of seeing that beautiful Snow in Northern Maine last week, and I would have just LOVED to have been there, to ROLL in it!!!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Other than the Snow Day it has been a good spring with a bunch of days in the 70s and lower 80s. I find that I can't take the heat (days over 80) very well, as I get older. So I'm really hoping for a moderate summer!

Default Yep!

That's why my husband and I moved to Maine from Oregon - our temperate climate turned too hot for us - didn't even stay long to debate why!

We've had a few days in the mid 80F, here in Aurora, ME, but believe a reprieve is in the near future. Today our high is suppose to be 63F low 51 and rainy.

Still living our dreams here in Maine

I love 90*-plus. Come on Global Warming. If the sea level rises 200 feet, I'll have beach-front property.

Radar loop last 4hrs 4-8am

We're pretty much done with the rains here but it's coming to Maine today. Some already has fallen.

Some is torrential downpours. I ended up with 2.13" of rain with this

Looks like the heaviest is going off shore though

Regarding the heat... yeah, what a stretch we had! Pretty crazy for southern New England starting one of the coldest May on record and ending one of the warmest.

Bangor hit 88° on Saturday.

Hartford hit 90s 4 times!

Thank the Bermuda High and the Atlantic Ridge

Couple of chilly days coming. NWS Gray Maine mentioned the possibility of snow flakes reaching down to 1500' in "some spots".

Quote:
National Weather Service Gray ME
1243 AM EDT TUE JUN 7 2016

A strong short wave trough will move across northern New England
on Wednesday. With cold temperatures aloft, weak instability will
likely develop and aid in the development of showers and
thunderstorms. A couple of storms may produce small hail.
Fair weather follows in the wake of the short wave for most areas
except for nwly upslope flow regions of NH and the Maine mountains
where upslope rain showers will likely be on and off Wednesday
night into early Friday. Some of the colder model solutions bring
a brief period of snow showers as low as 1500 ft early Thursday
morning.

Thereafter dry and cool weather is expected Friday. However, then
next low pressure system will move our way Saturday, providing a
good chance of rain late Saturday and Saturday night. Cool and
potentially cloudy weather lingers Sunday and Monday with upper
low lingering.

Do you guys remember this snow storm in June? Were you around for it? lol

If it happened then, it can happen again....in the future. The setup we have coming this week is the type of pattern for it but the Jet stream would of needed to dig just a little more south and be colder at the mid levels of the atmosphere.

We had a "year without a summer" back then. It was a slow disaster with not enough food for man or beast the following winter. It was associated with a volcanic eruption in Indonesia. Just google it and there is a huge amount of info. When Pinatubo erupted we had two years of spectacular summers.
