Beautiful summer evening in Maine with the Vortex right overhead. Places in Vermont didn't pass 40s today. Crazy.

I brought the water pump up to camp yesterday. It was 46 degrees outside at 2 PM, 44 degrees inside. Hey, it isn't the 4th of July yet.

I lit a fire in the stove. but it started pouring outside so I did not install the pump. We pump water from the lake for household water. We have a filter. We bring spring water in a 5 gallon cooler for people who don't want to drink lake water.

Due to the weather, I haven't been into the bees for a while. Planned on getting into them today since we're due for some sun & warm, and certain that I would have to do some major swarm control- a streak of cool, cloudy, wet weather primes them to swarm on the first good day. Took a walk out to the bee area just around sunset, detour after hauling the trash barrel out to the road- too late, the were just busting to get out, spotted two swarms hanging in trees. One was easy to get, hanging off a low branch in an apple tree, the other was a bit more difficult because it was around the trunk of a young fir tree. I think I got about half of them in the box, then left it under the tree- 50/50 chance the rest will go in...else they'll all leave.

Now I gotta figure out which hives they came from, so I can cull the queen cells to raise separately to bank for replacements later in the year.

Normal temps today is supposed to be 74. We haven't even gotten into the 70's except one time this year so far.

What we are getting is the high 50's. You know that new ice ages start in the north and work their way down.

We had the winter that wasn't, followed by the spring that wasn't, and looking like the summer that wasn't. I can't do anything outside. The temps are in the mid 50's and the wind is blowing out of the NW like a banchee and has been doing it for weeks. Wind chill here in June 14, is in the 40's.

it was 43 this morning when I got up. Time to put the snows on again I guess.

Nobody talks about weather in the summer? How's everyones June and Summer going so far.

So far as of July 2nd, Bridgeport, Islip, Binghamton, Worcester, Montpelier, Portland, Bangor, Caribou, Youngstown, and some other spots haven't hit 90° yet.

Nothing too extreme but Looking at the number of 90° days this year I came across something interesting...and baffling actually...

Richmond Virginia only hit 90° 3 times! Burlington Vermont has had more 90s than Richmond this yr so far.. That's the 4th most on record since late 1800s for BTV!

For Richmond It's the 2nd least number of times since late 1800s. Normally they have at least 10 by now. Only 1972 had less.

Was really hot yesterday, however we went down to Birch Point State park/beach, and it was real nice on the water, was even cold when the sun went behind the clouds because of the seabreeze. This week is one of the few weeks of the year that we actually use AC to sleep. Too humid/warm at night still for me. Peppers outside in the garden are loving it though.

I was wondering the same! Enjoying the weather here in Aurora, ME! Really appreciate the turn for the cooler weather today's high here in Aurora was 63F Degrees! Great sleeping weather! Black flies were the bane of my life until I found using 20% tea tree oil on my skin and in my shampoo repelled the little buggers! Otherwise, it appears as if we are at least a couple of months behind Oregon, as far as lushness! Loving this new land!

Glad you like it. I might have to start the wood stove today, for the first time ever in July.
