The Mid City Square sounds really nice and with 5000 employees at the Medical Center, I can see the apartment and extended stay hotel possibilities taking off soon.

I think now with Macon/Bibb Consolidation Complete, Mercer’s Future Developments, Medical Center’s future Projects and $86million New Cancer Center and this Second Street Project; Downtown Macon is really about to make a Real 360; Plus it is becoming a hot spot for residential development and that’s really attracting a lot of outside developers and investors and it’s not going to be long before it catches the interested of the Big Name Chain businesses wanting to set up shop.

It would be awesome if one day Publix or another chain opened a store downtown. Mark my words by 2025, downtown Macon won't be the same.

Yes a Publix would be nice DT. I'm curious to see how the Midtown Square project going to take shape and what comes in as part of that.

Even more good news for downtown! Newtown Macon wants to create a $10 million fund to help refurbish building downtown. According to the newtown Macon president, competition is fierce for the few remaining vacant buildings on Poplar St in downtown Macon.

This is going to be a construction nightmare! I can't even begin to imagine how they're gonna add all those lanes and keep traffic moving in an already horrid bottleneck.
