Finper - you might want to read more carefully before commenting.

The article quote didn’t say the Marine’s mother lived in Nebraska ... it said the Marine’s son’s mother lives in Nebraska. It is not stated where the Marine’s mother lives, or if she is even alive, or whether she would be in a position to house her son (if alive, does she live in an efficency apartment in Mexico City? Etc ...).

Article also does not say he “left his kid”. Or where he (the Marine) has established residency. It is entirely possible that, as a recently discharged Marine, he lived on base in the San Diego area and his son was taken by the mother to Nebraska while the Marine was overseas.

Etc.

Details. Ruin a good criticism again. Dang it!

What a waste! Once again the tax payers were sold a bill of goods at their expense .

L.A Mag is left leaning also btw

Mayor Eric Garcetti and some members of the City Council had pushed for the $1.2 billion bond measure Proposition HHH.
. At the kickoff event for the campaign, City Council President Herb Wesson had enthused, “This might be the most important thing that all of us do in our lives.”

The average total cost for a unit of homeless housing in the HHH program — first projected at $350,000 — was more than $502,000 by the latest count, an increase of 43.4 percent.

At the rate the city is spending HHH money—and it has already committed about half of the $1.2 billion bond fund—officials project the total amount of units built could be fewer than 6,000. The population now living on the streets and in the shelters of the city is greater than 31,000, according to the Los Angeles Times.

https://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/...n-hhh-debacle/

The increase denotes wild success- rather than failure- they fail the citizens yes! but obviously don't care--but they embellish themselves extravagantly- they know exactly how its gonna go- now they have as much impunity as the vagrants themselves!

I think the difference is you have "homeless advocates" in cities that have big homeless problems.

But you also have high costs of housing... I can't help but think the 2 are related. If you gentrify the ghettos where the lowlifes live, of course they are going to live on the streets. You can't expect them all to move inland...Especially if they can get support/food and shelter here while they spend all of their time and energy on getting more drugs.

I see it's getting worse in the SFV. Even just in the past 2 years.

That's exactly right, and it astounds me that some of the posters here don't seem to get this. The crazy people living on the streets put themselves in that position by behaving in a rotten, selfish, inconsiderate, and often downright hateful manner towards others around them. If they'd straighten out their thinking and make amends with their families, then they could get off the streets, but they instead choose to wallow in their own bile and direct their misery at the rest of us by acting out in the anti-social manners which all of us who live here have witnessed.

Hey, Tulemutt, how's the boating going? You never did respond to my post about the homeless on the high seas -- you're not piratephobic, are you?

I don't have any professional athletes on my payroll. Do you?

Yes it has gotten worse , and there are stats to show it’s gotten worse in the SFV specifically.

Yeah plus the laws are so weak now they know they can commit crime and have little consequences, if they are caught in the first place .
