Interesting. So where do they get the money for food, clothing, haircuts, shaves, radios, batteries, and smartphones? Since they don't work, are they all getting their money by thieving or dealing drugs? That's actually more alarming than getting freebies...

1. Some (varies from about 8% up to over 20% at different points in time) have part or even full time jobs and actually earn paychecks (), but not enough to pay today’s rents along with other silly expenses like foods and medications

2. Some are pensioners - disability, VA, and/or social security - but not enough to pay ... etc.

3. Some panhandle - with varying degrees of success

4. Some get occassional support from family and friends

5. Some are theives / or drug dealers.

Basically just like real life but at extremely low income levels.

Odd how you can’t look stuff up that is so readily available. One might think you aren’t interested in real answers and just post rhetorically and snidely.

Where are you seeing all of these clean shaven, well dressed and coiffed homeless people?

#2, #3, and #4 are freebies. And in light of that, I'm amused at the closing of you post; remember that when you point a finger at somebody, there are three fingers pointing back at you.

In West L.A. they're not particularly well dressed, but roughly half of them have short hair and are beardless.

So what if #2, #3, #4 are “freebies”? You opined, through your rhetorical question, that none worked ergo all were thieves and drug dealers. I cleared that up for you.

Some highlights from a local newsletter, cited here with author's permission:

Quote:
Homeless Outreach teams now walk the perimeter of the VA every day; there have been several placements into rehab, group housing or transitional housing, however, it is true that outreach teams are finding the encampment to be somewhat service resistant.
See, I told you people that most of the homeless don't want to get into homeless outreach programs. They're offered entry into these programs, yet they're "service resistant" and choose to live on our streets which is why we're doing another homeless roundup in Brentwood.

Quote:
After residents provided video/photos to law enforcement of criminal activity, detectives made multiple arrests at the VA encampment for drug related charges, and, in compliance with CA State law, some of those individuals also received on-site mental/medical assessments by doctors and were both charged with a crime & transferred to mental health/medical facilities.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf: In response to numerous resident complaints to the BCC, such as fist fights/yelling from homeless individuals between 10PM - 4AM at Coffee Bean on San Vicente, the company filed a No Trespass Form with the LAPD, locks up all furniture at night, added security cameras and changed the locks on their storage room.
As I've stated in this thread at least 100 times, most of these homeless people are criminally minded riff-raff. How outrageous that we have this sort of thing in our neighborhoods. It's just plain sick. Sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick!

It’s not hard to find people who aren’t barbers to cut hair. Mothers, wives, girlfriends, buddies cut each others’ hair all the time. And some barbers contribute services for free:

Barber cutting hair for free for homeless in downtown may have to move locations - Story | KTBC

Hard for you to grasp that while some whine, complain, rant, and denigrate about homelessness, others actually do something to try and relieve the pressures?

Why, some folks even volunteer their time to find housing and benefits - let alone haircuts - for disabled veterans and other homeless

You’ve been shown many times the reasons that some homeless refuse services when they feel the services are less safe or otherwise less accommodating than the streets.

And as you’ve been challenged in this thread at least 500 times: provide some credible research findings that show “most of these homeless people are criminally minded riff-raff“. Facts you’ve been presented demonstrate that some of the chronic homeless population are criminally minded riff-raff ... and that most general homeless are not, and only very temporarily unhoused.

Yup. There should be public service announcements warning people about the homeless. Remember that thing that came out a while ago where the city was telling people to make eye contact with the homeless? All we hear is we need to build more units at $500,000 or more per unit and put together gift baskets .

There should be signs posted all over stating that loitering and panhandling are not allowed and the laws should be enforced, things have just gotten way out of hand .

I don’t understand why it is “mean “ to enforce laws and have some level of decency and safety ?
