It's actually pretty obvious what the homeless in LA need to do: Go to the homeless mission, silly goose.

Reminder:

1. This is not the place to discuss moderation. EVER.

2. This thread is about homelessness in Los Angeles/Los Angeles County. Not anywhere else, not homelessness in general, not Trump, not Obama, not Jerry Brown, not Gavin Newsom, not Eric Garcetti, not lefties, not righties, nor their respective wings. HOMELESSNESS IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY.

3. This thread is not here to discuss certain members, their experiences, to ridicule them, to make backhanded comments towards them, nor to or otherwise personally attack them. Do NOT let me catch you doing this.

4. We have a TOS, and all of you must remain within the bounds of it at all times. Anything outside the bounds of the TOS will be deleted without warning nor explanation (just as the TOS says it will), and disciplinary action will be handed out to those who continue to refuse to comply with it.

For those of you who have never seen the TOS: it is HERE: https://www.city-data.com/forumtos.html

Disturbing stats from LAPD .

Big increase in violent crime committed by the homeless .

——
The Los Angeles Police Department said this month the number of crime reports that described people experiencing homelessness as either suspects or victims increased by more than 50-percent in 2018.
Most notably, the number of rapes attributed to suspects described as homeless increased by 78 percent and the number of serious assaults attributed to suspects described as homeless increased by 56 percent, according to the LAPD’s 2018 fourth quarter report on homelessness.

Indeed. Our city is under siege by these barbarians and we're expected to acquiesce and allow our neighborhoods to be ruined. What a disgrace in what's billed as a "world class city".

Just to clarify what is actually in your link:
There was an increase in crimes committed by the homeless AND in crimes committed against the homeless. The increase in crimes in which the homeless were suspects went up 53%, the incidents in which the homeless were victims went up 68%.

And to further clarify:
Quote:
LAPD Commander Dominic Choi, who manages the department's response to homelessness, said last month while the data cited in the I-Team report was concerning, he explained there are reasons other than more crimes being committed that accounted for a portion of the increases.
"There's an awareness and (people) are reporting more, our coding is better so we're capturing a lot more,
and, quite frankly, there are more victims out there," he said.
Officers began using more focused statistical tools last June to better categorize crimes that touch the homeless community, and Choi said a full year of that data was needed before meaningful conclusions could be reached.
In other words ...

Ah, but this has already been covered a hundred times at least in this thread.

Crime hasn’t necessarily increased - reporting and classifying has.

Furthermore, most of this “increase” is homeless on homeless crime as new outreach/reporting is applied by the police in the homeless communities. There has always been substantial theft, and assault, including rapes, among the homeless.

Persons incapable of analyzing and truthfully interpreting data shouldn’t be fearmongering with false narratives.

NOT butterflies for sure. There are throngs of homeless living in the parks and byways out in my area and they are terrorizing what used to be nice stores and parks, the police don’t do anything even though we have laws against panhandling and camping. The local news reports nothing unless other people spread the story first
The LA area has gotten so much worse since 2008-9! Regular meetings with your neighbors and local business owners is recommended for sure: we have no public sector protections against the homeless due to early release policies.
I’ve been in the LA and OC areas recently and I feel so bad for anyone that has to deal with the daily crime and trash.
Bear in mind that street level is only a glimpse of the sheer volume of homeless miscreants in your area, a few low level fly overs of the LA area in an airplane or helicopter will shock you. It’s VERY probable that the data in jm’s post is screed down the truth is not being reported adequately/with the general public’s best interests in mind and that’s for certain.

Have you done a few low level airplane and helicopter rides over LA?

I’m gratified that you ask, however, I’m not the topic.
I can tell you that you will get a great perspective of the homeless problem in LA or just about anywhere in SoCal by doing so.
