NV Unemployment Benefits - Maximum Weekly Payment
Nevada's maximum weekly unemployment payment is $393.00, and the maximum amount of time unemployment compensation can be collected through the Nevada Unemployment Office is 79 weeks.

I was curious as to whether the money was sufficiently close to neutral that the time off and other opportunity costs might override a new job...

Apparently not. Wonder what the thinking was.
Are you people honestly this thick or just pretending to be? I wouldn't take a job that pays $1200 if I had 79 weeks of $393 lined up. Now that doesn't mean I wouldn't work -- I'd do something online, or off the books. I have relatives who do this and laugh as they call the unemployment phone number "if you looked for work and couldn't find it, please press 1. thank you" Cha-Ching.
I'll go a step further. If you're a normal person and you pass up on that 79 weeks of unemployment benefits by accepting a job that pays less than triple the UI check, you're an idiot.

Obviously if you have a pre-existing condition & need the health care plan, or some other overriding factor this doesn't apply.

90% of the long-term unemployed are milking the system. Moderator cut: inappropriate comment

This is just sad, this place was an icon, a landmark here in Vegas. Sad that is for sure a sign of the times.
I guess tomorrow is it then. Im wondering if I should go down and take some pics in memory.
Hmm....anyone know if the rollercoaster is still operating or did they shut that down already

Than what do you do after the 79 weeks when you are scrambling to look for a job and can't find one before the funds run out, I bet then you wish you had taken the job. Your thinking is not long term.

Anyone know what they are doing about the Monorail stop? It was the end of the line and the only way to get anywhere close to the stratosphere and riviera by public transportation except the deuce

I prefer the ambiance of old Vegas myself. When they were still there, we would usually stay downtown, but since the last time we visited, I am told that they no longer exist. Now, this. Like so many other places, it seems that Vegas is forgetting who/what it is. Too bad.

They announced on the news that the monorail will continue indefinitely.

I wonder what is the next historic casino to go????????

Flamingo? Riviera? Is Circus Circus considered historic?
