Like others have said it has been going down hill for years. They use to have the best buffets in the 80's

It's kinda sad. They had one of the best low buy-in Poker tournaments in town. It was a well run game with plenty of play. I won my first 1K+ in a tournament there. The place was a dive, but a friendly enough place.

Being old school, I prefer some of the smaller casinos to the mega-resorts.

To bad. I remember staying there a few times in the early 60's, when it was probably the classiest place on the strip. Great lounge shows then...don't see that much any more.

My wife and I visit Las Vegas twice a year from here in England. While visiting a few weeks ago I
was playing cards in the Sahara and noticed a photo of Connie Stevens, Liberace and Buddy
Hackett was missing

Walked through the Sahara a couple of days ago. It was virtually empty. Nobody there but a few dealers, and about a half dozen people playing slots. It was almost depressing. Hopefully everyone will be able to find work somewhere else, soon. I'd love to see someone develop the north end of the strip, but I suspect that will be a few years down the road.

Too bad to see it go. LVBLVD and Sahara is going to be one depressing intersection.

Last month I had an opening in my dept that I manage. All eleven of the same dept employees at the Sahara applied and sent over thier resumes. Two of them I was interested in after interviews and extended job offers for 2$ less per hour than their current wages. Both turned down the jobs and just wanted to collect 99 weeks of unemployment was thier comments. The job ended up going to a candiate who was willing to relocate from another state.
