Comfort food was on the menu this evening. We had Salisbury steak with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy and Brussels sprouts. A glass of merlot to drink. Dessert will be a shared Mango.
We are seeking comfort from the cold pitter-patter, too.
Such a treat last night. DH and friend went and caught some walleye. The water is still cold and the fish was firm and sweet. As an experiment I added some rice flour to a light, flaky batter and got a good crisp finish on the filets. Oh heaven!
We ate them with baguette toasts and a spinach salads with bacon.
When I came into the kitchen this morning the Cheshire Cat was at the kitchen table grinning over a cup of coffee. "I had walleye for breakfast."
Sounds so good! What do you put in Hawaiian Macaroni Salad?
Well traditional Hawaiian macaroni salad has elbow macaroni, shredded carrots, mayo, salt/pepper
a little cider vinegar and sugar. You can google recipe's. It's heavy on the mayo and it is sweet. Mine did not have carrots but I did add chopped Vidalia onions, red and yellow bell peppers. Some recipe's call for the mayo to be mixed in milk or half and half.
