A million dollar fine for queue jumping is pretty significant deterrence. And yeah the language is hyperbole because it's a tabloid, but those folks who couldn't jump the line in New York may be ending up here instead

If you're over 65, no questions asked is the official policy despite attempts to back pedal. There wa much wink and nudge over this to try to convince snowbirds to still come down this year.

Meanwhile in Michigan, my Mom was able to go online on Saturday morning and pretty easily grab vaccine slots at a local hospital for today for her and Dad (both over 75s). First jab is already done with no fuss or excessive wait times in lines. Essential worker sister gets her first shot on Friday; if she was down here, she'd probably be lucky to get anything before May.

Since it's clear that it's everyone for themselves, am considering putting essential worker husband on a plane to the North if need be in order to get vaccinated in a timely manner. Flying is lower risk than his typical work day. It's personal responsibility to do so and hey, if we can throw some money at a problem and fix it, then why not?
That would be up to you.

I know 30-year-olds who have been vaccinated in South Florida. Zero residency requirements, zero age requirements, zero requirements period.

Because is that 22 year old essential worker ends up with permanent heart damage, it's their own fault for getting coughed on at work?

And it doesn't matter if grandma is just in town from Buenos Ares or Toronto to visit the grandkids for a month, they're still a higher priority than permanent residents

It's the most infuriating thing we have had to deal with in a long time. Letting this idiot vaccinate people from out of the country before actual floridians.

Send a message and vote him out.

And here's a great story about a person coming to get a FL vaccine https://www.nbcmiami.com/investigati...ccine/2359275/

Who paid for this vaccine? Not her country.

Oh give it a rest... Who gives a flying ****? An old lady got the vaccine. Be patient and wait, if you actually do want the damn thing -- I believe half of medical staff don't even want it.

Florida has the 2nd most vulnerable population in the USA, but has dropped to the 25th most deadliest state in deaths per million residents...right at the midpoint.

Either the entire state is very lucky, or a lot of people are doing a lot of things right.

Way to go Florida for outperforming the odds, and 24 other states who are much less vulnerable.

So my sister who is forced back to work as a teacher to pay her bills (when they could have just stayed remote if the gov. didn't say no)...should have to wait even longer because she's in her late 50's ? So that people on vacation who aren't US residents...can come get it?
