Thank you for the definition. Where there is opinion, there will be counter opinion, no?

At least we are now sure that it was opinion and not based on anything factual.

How can an opinion be non-biased if it is personal ? I think definitions 1&2 apply here to C-D posts. If SassySpice thinks Key West is the gate to hell in the summer, that is a personal view and it's up to the reader to decide whether to side with or against her. The same thing applies to anything you throw out there that is not based on fact.

If you post inaccuracies, falsehoods, exaggerations and the like I will say something, not too hard to figure out. Though I don't know who you are trying to link me with I can just as easily call you part of the Group of 9 as I am sure I can pick out at least 9 posters that continually post exaggerations about Florida's weather.

I was making a comparrison in case you couldn't figure that out by yourself, Siberia vs the northern states particularly the northeastern states, & Key West felt like we had entered into the gates of hell. Don't people usually make references or comparrisons to give posters a mental vision of what they're speaking of? Since you're part of the research crew show me where I told any particular poster they're lying or grossly exaggerating? Ya see when you confront a poster with statements like that it makes it personal.

You were making a comparison? I guess the definition of comparison must have changed and I did not know it. In one post you state that people are exaggerating when they compare northern weather to Siberia. In another post you compare Key West to the gates of hell which is an exaggeration.
You were not comparing anything.
And while you may not have quoted anyone's post, you made a general statement about people exaggerating and then went and exaggerated. I guess you wouldn't see how ridiculous that is.

Soooooo.......let me see if I've got this straight. If I speak positively of every aspect of FL then I get patted on the back from your clan, but if I show any signs of discontent based upon my own experience then I get slapped around on this forum, is that the deal? Cause if it is............then you've got the right one baby! Now take it anyway you wanna.

NEXT!
Show me where I go around "patting people on the back" for their posts. I merely point out, as previously stated, inaccuracies, falsehoods, exaggerations, etc.. If you have a problem with that I suggest you stop posting such. I have no problem with people that don't like warm weather but post your opinion and not hyperbole.

And next what?

Could you tell me what the temperature at the gates of hell is since that is what you thought you entered when you got to Key West?
I thought you may have been exaggerating but since you say this is your experience then I guess I could get that temp. from you.

I can understand hating heat and humidity as I detest cold.

I don't think you have any Floridians going to the Northern CD forums
telling everyone how much the cold sucks, but some people seen to find it necessary to frequently announce that they hate the heat and humidity of FL. It makes no difference to us who live here, we live here because of the heat and humidity. So what is your point about posting the same thing time and time again? Just to troll for responses?
Yes, there are "Floridians" (transplants) on the NY boards telling people how much cold sucks and how Florida is so much better.

Ah, but the New Yorkers give it right back to them on there. No, they aren't Jealous, as so many Florida transplants say. As a FAKE Floridian myself of 4 years , I agree with those who hate the heat, humidity, snowbirds, tourists, palm trees, etc, etc.

In living over half a century, I have made many, many mistakes in life. Moving back to Florida (6 months first time 40 years ago) ranks in the top 3 mistakes I have ever made in my 63 years of life. Hint. The FIRST MOVE is included in the top 3. No fool like an old fool, as the saying goes.

Last January, when it was in the low 50s, I almost got into a fight with a "Floridian" (transplant NJ) coworker while we were opening car doors for the kids at school in the morning. She was there in her parka, hat, scarf, and gloves. I had on just a light weight jacket. She actually gave me a LECTURE on how to dress. "Why aren't you wearing a hat and gloves?" "It's FREEZING outside". Um, because this ISN'T freezing for me? I don't wear all that clothing until it is BELOW FREEZING up North, so why would I when it isn't even close to that in Florida? We almost got into an agrument over this. Not worth it. You wear what makes YOU happy, and I will wear what makes ME happy, and COMFORTABLE. The problem is a lot of people here in Florida expect you to be JUST LIKE THEM.

Thanks for the info on the NY boards, I had no idea. So, it's OK for the New Yorker's to "give it right back to them" but not OK for Floridians to do so on the Florida related forums?

I too have lived for more than 1/2 a century and mistakes, I've made a few, but then again too few to mention... wait a minute... I am morphing into Sinatra here.

I left NYC 20+ years ago and never regretted it. The only thing I do regret is that we didn't do it 10 years sooner.

Hey, as far as moves go, at least you can always say "I did" instead of "Maybe I should have".

Perhaps that person came from a warmer climate and to them it was cold.
I don't think I've ever experienced hat and glove weather as we would think of "up North" here. Sure have been plenty of hard freezes, but I am not wandering around at 3-5 a.m. when that happens.

Absolutely! Wear what is comfy.

4. They get homesick.

There are other reasons, mostly personal in nature.

Expectations is another major problem. They expect that their lives will suddenly turn around and everything will be great in their lives because they moved to Florida.

Once they experience 1-5 and their expectations aren't met, they complain and become very vicious.

I often imagine what these complainers were saying about the place they were leaving before they left. Surely things weren't up to their expectations where ever they were, so they relocated looking for something different. When they realize that the relocation did not solve their problems, well, they blame the entire state of Florida for their difficulties.

I've heard every conceivable complaint on this board. Mainly it's too hot, too humid, they miss snow, they miss cold temperatures, drivers are bad, child molesters live here, crime, high cost of living, high car insurance, high home owners insurance, high rents, nothing to do, the local people are toothless morons, salaries are too low, it rains too much in the summer, it doesn't snow, people come to FL to get away from criminal prosecution,

You name it, someone will complain about some or all of it.
Amen to this.....

But I will say this, especially as a 5th generation Floridian about the above statement in bold.

All you dang people that complain of the bad drivers, child molesters living here, crime, high cost of living, high car & home owners insurance, high rents, etc. etc. etc.. are the reason it is here and continues to grow and moves here. I was not like this before everyone from everywhere (mainly yankees) moved here and still infest my native state. All you do is complain and you are the reason for the problems. We native Floridians are fed up of all your complaints and bitching when you are the problem, not FL. Thanks to you, my native state has become the way it is these days.

So I say, STOP the dang whining & complaining and just go back where you came from or shut the heck up.!!

This would be a blessing for us true native Floridians.

OK, how about if all of us whining Yankees leave and take all of our tax dollars with us. And while we're at it, we'll round up all of the non-native Hispanics and illegal immigrants and take them with us. And we'll take away all of the tourist attractions that were funded by non-native money. And we'll take away the sports teams for whom the majority of their players don't actually come from Florida.

Then you'll have exactly what you want ... no whiners, dirt roads, one-room schoolhouses, alligator wrestling for entertainment, no A/C, and all the fresh seafood you want.

Just say the word partner and we're out of here.
