The fashion here is nothing like I lived on Long Island. Very few people dress up even when going to a nice restaurant. It's a fashion wasteland here.
I think you are pretty much describing fashion in many areas where fashion is not weather-driven, like SoCal. In SoCal your summer clothing works fine in the winter, all you do is throw on a jacket. (I can't recall if I own an umbrella, but I'm certain I don't own rain boots, not that these are fashion items, but rather they indicate how unimportant weather is to SoCal fashion.)
Call it a fashion wasteland. There just isn't any need for high fashion in SoCal (except at formal events, and I can't even remember the last formal event I went to).

That's gangsta wanna-be style. It's suitable for 13 year old boys maybe.

All those style examples looked incredibly unattractive to me. I've seen grunge where the pants meet or bunch at the boots, and I've seen skinny jeans tucked into boots, but the bare skin just looks strange to me.

For men or women! Please, I don't wanna see underwear. And PJs in public? I've never seen that.
Yeah, maybe it is a super casual Colorado thing? I have traveled to about four other states, and I never saw PJs in public anywhere else -- but here it seems that for the past year or so, I can't go to anyplace casual (such as the supermarket) without seeing at least one young man or woman wearing flannel PJ bottoms with "cutsie" or some kind of sports team pattern and wearing any kind of old or loose top.
Actually, maybe it's not a fashion trend, but maybe it's just a laziness thing?

I live in Missouri, and the pajamas in public is a thing here. A typical 'look' will be a young woman in some kind of cartoon print pajama pants, big hoody or sweatshirt, and hair piled up on her head. It looks very much like she went camping, and just got up.
Don’t really get the logic here. Piercings and tats have been around for YEARS. And a nose piercing is just as functional as an ear piercing. It holds an earring in the nose. A nose ring is adornment, no different than the ear. I didn’t pierce my nose just for the sake of piercing it, I like wearing jewelry in my nose.
It wasn't meant as "logic". It was offered as a personal preference of a "Fashion/Beauty Trend You Wish Would Go Away". Nothing more, nothing less.

All those outfits with the exception of one was hideous. Guaranteed they were all in NYC where fashion is a big thing no matter how ugly or impractical.
All this knock on skinny jeans..............Obama liked them.
