At the same time if taxes are raised, the cost of goods and services will increase for that reason as well. Washington meddling with the economy always has the same results. The final result of the WPT when it was finally repealed was the lowest domestic oil production in 20 yrs. making us even more dependent on OPEC crude.

• Carter's last year: Prime Interest rate, 21%. Inflation, 13.5%. Unemployment, 7%. The so-called “Misery Index,” which Carter used to great effect in his 1976 campaign to win election, 20.5%.

• Reagan’s last year: Prime Interest rate, 11%. Inflation, 4.1%. Unemployment, 5.5%. Misery Index, 9.6%.

• Bush today: Prime Interest rate, 7.2%. Inflation, 4.8%. Unemployment, 6.1%. Misery Index, 10.9%.
Re-adjust those numbers for the decrease in wages, increase in energy costs, and number of jobs created above the poverty wage. It wouldn't make the Bush years look so hot.

you do know that the decrease in wages is due to the amount of illegal mexicans taking up the jobs and re-establishing a new price point for labor.

If you are going to dream....dream big.

Many scientific advances have been brought forth from unrealistic ideas. The experts gawk......the people embrace.

well then stick to your numbers you're obviously one of those guys who can't think outside the box. and i haven't picked up a pop sci in many years. my reference to a couple technologies that would be a smart part of a greater picture.

you are very arrogant in your assumptions and it keeps making you look like an ass.
I'm arrogant because I know the issues that I spend every day working on better then you do? Maybe the world needs less engineers like me and more real estate agents like you? That will fix our problems, right?

Guess I live in anti-america (bizzaro world) too.

On the PhD engineering level I do not work with a majority of US citizens. Foreigners don't take our jobs. We give them our jobs.

So where does the money for his Utopian society come from?

Name a single scientific advance that people have brought forth and scientists or engineers have gawked at.

Where did the money to fund the Iraq war or the economic bailout come from?

Making money out of nothing to fund work to make the US the global energy provider would be a much more efficient economic strategy then a service based economy would be wouldn't it?

Not promising utopium. Just asking for common sense that costs less then $10,000,000,000 a month and kills people.

"So instead of realizing that we have serious problems we should pretend that they don't exist and make the safe choice?"

SDI, BMDO and MDA.

The fruit from those have ranged from decreasing the half life of nuclear material to rail guns and GPS system...

We did this already.
