Buisnesses along rt1 were told to close tonight in Rehoboth, and if this storm stays on track it will be the most powerful since 1903 to hit Delaware and New Jersey.

Also the news said expect some new inlets in Jersey and Delaware.

Fenwick may be under water permanently.

Mandatory evacuations start tonight in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Dewey, Bethany, Ocean View and coastal towns as far north as Slaughter Beach. That information is almost an hour old. State of Emergency in Delaware as of 6 p.m. tonight.

Different weather stations were talking about it, changes to the Outer Banks and changes to the Delaware and New Jersey coastline, if the storm stays on track.
Some places weren't meant to be built on.

that's true, i think there's laws now that if a house washes away in the OBX, you can't rebuild on the property b/c of the erosion etc. not sure about DE or NJ but it wouldn't surprise me if it's the same situation.

New Orleans would probably still be under water if it wasn't for the pumps. The only thing worse than seeing someones house destroyed by water is seeing that person on the news saying " Ohh me Ohh my how could this happen" or a millionare from Florida when Andrew hit back in 1992 saying " I built the house 100 ft from the ocean how could this happen" .

Back in the mid 1950s a development on the Jersey shore tore down the sand dunes protecting it so it wouldn't impede their view of the ocean, 3 or 4 years later a hurricane hit and the flood waters destroyed the neighborhood. end of sarcasm.

On a positive note, huge amounts of work will be generated by this storm if it destroys, Fenwick, Dewey, Lewes, etc. All will be rebuilt rightly or wrongly so it may bring alot of jobs to lower Delaware. Other than that I can't think of a positive, so I hope everyone that can leave will leave and stay safe.
