I think the reason there are so few protestors is because most people will look at the pictures of Brown robbing the store by intimidation and they look at the evidence in the case and figure he was breaking the law and he ended up getting shot as a result of his own actions. If he didn't break the law, he would still be living. Now if all the protests started with the 12 year old in Cleveland being shot, things might be very different, but they started with someone that robbed a store, ignored the police command to get out of the middle of the street and ended up reaching for a cop's gun according to the forensic evidence found. Keep in mind, I am not condoning him being shot, BUT if he did reach for a cop's gun all bets are off at that point IMHO. The video in Cleveland is different. I am not sure why this kid was pointing the gun at people passing by and it certainly looks real, but 12 years old. Goodness I think it could have been handled differently and he would be alive. It makes me ill looking at that video on so many levels, I don't know where to begin. I feel what we are witnessing is a result of decades of hyped up TV and news that is now 24 hours and on steroids. It continually shows crime and anger. There was always fear promotion for agendas, like I grew up with the Cuban Missile Crises and remember feeling I would be dead anyway, so why study in school and work hard, but that was shown in a segment on TV on the 1/2 hour world news and I would go out and play without media attached to me after that was over. Obviously we are living in a very different time and we are paying the price. Sadly, the massive hyped up negative media frenzy often shows the black community committing crime and there are shootings all the time in known black communities on the news running 24 hours. This constant pounding from the media is having a negative effect on us and the police are responding to the fear by shooting first and not taking any chances. They are a product of our environment created by the media. Internet and now smartphones so everyone can travel with their fear pill is very bad for us all. I see no answers to all this, but rioting in Ferguson is only going to create more fear to the law-abiding and they are going to demand more protection from police. The end result will no doubt end up being more of a police state and more people being shot.

If you read about it, you can learn that the whole "grand jury" situation is fixed in favor of the police. No one was saying, let's convict the cop.
we are saying, he should have a trial. he should not be immune.
What boy are you talking about? You mean the adult that just robbed a store and reached into a cop's car to ty and take his gun and ended up getting shot?

Michael Brown or Darren Wilson?

>>Brown

i dont think so at all

simply because regular people have things going on in their own lives and usually dont have time to protest for people they dont personally know especially when your protesting gets you nowhere

all that happens is you can tell someone "hey, i protested xyz"

then you have celebs.. like i mentioned macklemore, i also remember him making some statement about gays randomly at some award show or something and people were like "yeah, good for him yada yada" so its just imo a way for people to feel like "hey, i'm part of a cause...i did this i did that" in addition you get free promotion etc

rich people who always jump on causes imo it's never authentic...

I would suggest you mean the latter.

Now go put those calorie counts on every edible thing or be arrested!
Whether the police state or the welfare state comes first, one will inherently lead to the other.

If we end the war on drugs, and we stop writing welfare checks, and these poor folks have real economic incentives to start businesses, even small, unlicensed ones that our current overlords would call "black market," you would see these areas pull themselves out of poverty in a few decades.

As blacks become a very insignificant minority in the coming future, rioting will be considered mutiny and treason. As Jim Crow Laws fades in the past, public opinion will push for the creation of self-contained walled ghettos for AA that will become bandustans and the target for future populist dictatorships based of imaginary visions of Ol' America. Americans will become a single ethnic group excluding blacks, and as heterogeneous groups will seek a common enemy, a "scapegoat".

If that happens in the future it will depend on the present, on politicians, religious leaders, Washington.... What is pristine clear is that Equal Rights failed, they should be looking for solutions and avoid the inertia conducting to disaster.
