How about La Nina ending! That would be great. I would take a more active El Nino winter over this nonsense. Actually, looking back at the analogs, ENSO neutral years are the best for seeing typical amounts of snow and average cold in New England.

I see NWS has sped up the timing of the storm. Yesterday it was Sunday night. Now it's tonight into tomorrow morning (showing just a 30% chance of a rain/snow mix or light snow). I also noticed that except for Monday, highs all week are either in the upper 40s or low 50s, wow!

The moisture anyone sees today is NOT from the big storm that was...Its a small wave moving through from the Great Lakes which was "supposed" to merge with the storm and hit us. But because the storm slowed down, this wave is missing the merge and will just give us flurries, drizzle or a dusting.

Timing is so crucial with weather and unfortunetly(or fortunetly) this is another missed Opportunity.

North Carolina has Winter Watches and parts will get 4-6" & up for 12" above 5000 feet.

Here's how the snow swath should look when all said and done. Baltimore and D.C are just going to miss it. Virginia is the jackpot zone.

Hows this for a forecast?? 64 Degrees today in Richmond, Virginia. But they are getting heavy accumulating snow tomorrow evening.

If the ground was colder it would accumulate up to half a foot but 2-4" is the call.

Past weather means nothing for tomorrows. LOL

Thumbs up Love this winter!

I have several pots of small cactus plants that I have left out all winter, except for a few very cold nights when I took them in overnight. They are thriving right now and the rain the past couple of days moistened them up nicely. Neighbors with daffodils, tulips, etc. have large green shoots already, since 2 weeks ago. Have not seen any skunk cabbage in the wetlands area yet, but it won't be long.

Was just in Ocean State Job Lot and they have huge pallets of ice melter, shelves of windshield de-icer and gas line antifreeze left. Guess they will have to store it till next year. Last year you couldn't find ice melter around here by January.

Have a good weekend, everyone. I guess our big snowstorm for tomorrow fizzled out.

Crocuses are actually famous for blooming "too early" and then dying from the cold, the average for them in the Northeast is actually late Feb. so it's not that unusual.

By the way, just read somewhere that they think the storm is going even further south than expected.....
