I'm in the Newtown area. We are completely surrounded by dense, mature woods, and the trees filter out the sunlight even without leaves. The north side of our house still gets no sun at all, and that's where we still have snow. I have to tried to pick it apart so it will melt faster, but it's rock hard, solid ice. Not to mention all the snow from our roof that was tossed down, we initially had snow 5' high around the house in some spots! Also, it seems like northern FFC got the highest amounts of snow overall during the winter, maybe even more than NW Ct.

Yeah, my parents had nearly waist deep snow in northern FFC, and that was not a snow drift. They are in a hilly area in a small valley. They got at least double what I got by the coast. Although I think that Litchfield County gets equally as much or more usually. I just think that this year the storm paths tended to stay more southern.

When I was up in the Albany, NY area for a few years, the apt. I lived in had one section behind the parking lot area that was like that and it would keep the snow long after the surroundings. One winter I was there the section had continuous snowcover until almost May.

On the other hand, I was amazed at how quickly the 1-3" of snow vanished with temps only in the low 40s.....so there may be something to that late March sun.

Yes, I am really hoping the angle of the sun changes quickly so that the north side of our house actually gets that sun. The snow and ice are covering some rhododendrons, and they look quite sick and some are sideways, I think several of the base branches have snapped under the weight.

It will...it has been, but did you know its the intense High Pressure over us that doesn't want to budge? If that wasnt there we would be more seasonable. It will start moving out and weaken next week and the warmth will arrive.. The ridge will also be in place.

Troughs tends to bring cooler and cloudy weather but ridges bring in warmer weather.

I just used an excavator to get the landscaping plantings ready plus a new garden area.. So Spring must be close.

Will say 3 things...

1. I could be wrong about a warm up "after April 2nd". At this point I was hoping I was right... I was basing it on a couple of models I saw but now they are showing the cooler than normal to last till mid April... My hands froze outside...I dont recall a year when I was doing landscaping near April 1st that my hands were freezing outside during the day while the sun was out...

2. Tomorrows storm is staying south of us. Frozen precip will fall somewhere near D.C

3. I'll change it up a bit...instead of me mentioning whats next, I'll just show images and let you figure it out. Date is on pic...and when looking at the pic, re-read #1.

ITS GLOBAL NOT LOCAL!!

Sorry for the caps, I try to explain this to everyone that says that and believe me there are too many that do.

A. Without getting into details.. The Earth is big, we cant use one area of it to make that statement.

B. You can't use 4 months to make that statement.

C. The Earths core and average temp is the warmest it has been since many generations before us. People tend to have short term memory about the all time record heat last summer.

D. Glaciers dont melt if its cold. Do you know what happens when fresh water from Glaciers melts into the Ocean?(See F)

E. During warming Volcanoes erupt & earthquakes happen. Do you know what Volcanoes do to atmosphere? (See F)

F. Guess what happens after the Earth heats up? Open for discussion. lol

This is all part of the process. I've been calling extremes both hot and cold for many years now and also more severe weather...(around the globe)

Graph is of Earths Temp.

Except Friday is April Fools' Day!

It's tough to believe we'll get ANY snow of significance going forward. This past week was our best (last) shot and it went bust.
