I'll post totals when I get back. Impressive numbers. Imagine this pattern continues into winter?

Farmingville Road, Ridgefield, CT. While water receded in most areas around here, some low lying spots are still flooded.

That was some crazy rain last night. Think the last time it rained that much in such a short period was during Irene.

I am sure it is very location dependent but where I am in the Hartford area, we had about the same amount of rain last night from Ida as we did the other week with Henri (roughly 5").

How about Larry? And I’m not talking about the new season of Curb.

Yeah unlike Henri I didn't get to miss this one

I work for a charter school in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. We closed at the last minute because most of the teachers either live in the boros and take the closed subway (and found out an Uber ride this morning would be over $100 ), or live in parts of NJ and LI that have closed roads. One takes Metro North from way up in Poughkeepsie (that is closed too).

Real sad story is 8 of those 9 were people living in basement apartments for who by the time the flooding woke them up they couldn't open their front doors and were trapped in water that eventually went over their head and drowned.

.Here is a map of reports of rainfall for 24hrs. Most of this actually fell within 6-7 hrs hence the flooding we saw.

Ida will be remembered I guess. My rain started at 5:30pm ended at 3:30am. Heaviest between 7pm-12am where I had over 6 inches already. Nuts

And yes... don't get brainwashed by the media, do your homework, pick any spot on a map and realize these events have always happened. Especially with Tropical systems which carry a lot of moisture. Not every point on the map will have a "its never happened before" result.

Rain from Tropical systems can carry a lot of moisture and flooding like this "has" occurred with systems in the past including inland areas, not just the coast.
