Mid 80s yesterday. So frustrating we have very little Fall around here. Jumps right into winter in November-December.

September may be the fastest warming month of the year at BDR.

It's a routine recently.

Winter starts in December and gets extended into March and April.
Spring April 15th-May 15th (1 month)
Summer starts mid May and gets extended into September and October sometimes.
Fall November 15th - December 15th (1 month)

10pm and its still 70! I hate Septembers! Mid 80s tomorrow. Ugh! Lets adapt or migrate to Minnesota!

My informal memory--we should have had our first 40s of the season by mid-September. Not the case this year at all. It would be interesting to see what the records say (interior locations such as BDL) as far as first 40-degree low.

84° with a dewpoint of 72° in September. Absolutely miserable. Its misery in summer, its flat out depressing in September.

Before I hear "it's the warmest its ever been".

2 points...………

A...…. Humidity controls how we feel. Dewpoint at 70° with temps at 80° feels HOTTER than dewpoint at 65° with temps at 85°. So maybe the extra humidity is why you're feeling warmer

B...… Here's a look at how many times we been above 80° 1st half of September. Today will be day #6 which ties last year. Look at 2015 & 16. OUCH.

SO THERE'S BEEN YEARS WHERE ITS BEEN HOTTER FOR MORE DAYS!.
I'm losing it with the CAPS. this heat is driving me insane.

I was going to quote Cambium but yours is better. The thing that seems to be warming is low temperatures. For example, it's actually a below normal September so far at Central Park (using the 1991-2020 normals that show the much higher average low temp).....and just 0.6 above normal at BDR) but the low temperatures are pretty high, not so much in that "record high low temps" are being recorded they are just consistently a lot above normal. For example, there's only been one low below 60 this month in Central Park which at this point in the month is a tie (many years though) for the least amount of such for the first half of the month.

The high temps have actually been below average. The 86 yesterday is the warmest in the month so far at BDR and the 84 currently at Central Park is the warmest in the month there. But a little under 1/2 of the Septembers in NYC and even many years in BDR have had 90+ readings the first half of September. That's why I half agree and half disagree with him on the whole "it's all happened before bit" but at least whether he agrees on the reason or not he does see that Septembers are warming and there's been some kind of pattern change in the climate compared to 50 years ago.

September 20th at BDL is the mean date of 1st 40°.
1st 45° mean date is September 6th
1st 49° mean date is August 26th

Here's when BDL hit 40° for first time
Earliest was 08-29-1982
Latest was 10-13-2018

I meant 40s as in <50...so sounds like Aug 26 is the mean for that at BDL. Which means, yeah, we're long overdue. And no 40s in sight either, as far as the 7-day outlook!
